Ghost Whisperer's David Conrad Heads To Marvel's Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.

We haven't seen a whole lot of Ghost Whisperer star David Conrad since the CBS drama was cancelled a few years back, but coming soon, Conrad is set to recur in one of the more highly anticipated dramas this season. I am, of course, referring to Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.. Conrad has signed on for a recurring role in the upcoming ABC series. Beyond that, details are unsurprisingly slim at the moment.

Those who were able to get a seat in Ballroom 20 for the Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. panel at Comic-Con were lucky enough to screen the pilot for the series. The rest of us will have to wait until fall when Joss Whedon's Avengers offshoot makes its grand debut (Tuesday, September 24). In the meantime, we'll take whatever casting news and production updates we can get, right? The latest of which is word that David Conrad has join the cast. TVLine says it's a recurring role and there are virtually no details to share about his part specifically. But the site does note that S.H.I.E.L.D. has been casting the role of a "brilliant and quirky scientist" that just so happens to match Conrad's description… in a very vague way. The character's described as a male in his 40s, which would work for a guy like Conrad, who is both. But with such vague attributes, there's no guarantee that it's the same part. So we'll have to wait and see.

Conrad is probably best known for playing Jim Clancy in the CBS drama Ghost Whisperer, starring opposite Jennifer Love Hewitt. Before that, he's credited for a recurring role in Boston Public, Roswell and the part of Michael Mendelson in Miss Match, which you may (or may not) recall, starred Alicia Silverstone. Conrad's most recent credit is for NBC's short-lived drama The Firm last year. So it sounds like he was due another TV spot, and what better series to board than Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.?

Conrad joins Clark Gregg, Brett Dalton, Ming-Na Wen, Iain De Caestecker, Elizabeth Henstridge, and the rest of the cast in this series, which comes from Joss Whedon and centers on the work of the agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., a worldwide law enforcement organization that sets out to investigate strange occurrences and protect the world from the extraordinary. Because even Iron Man and Thor have to sleep, right? Wait, does Thor sleep?

Among the recent news for the series is that Bear McCreary will be doing the music, which is one more reason to look forward to M.A.o.S when it debuts this fall.
