The Bachelor's Sean Lowe And Catherine Giudici Will Wed During Live TV Special

The Bachelor’s Sean Lowe actually did what he set out to do on ABC’s competition series and found love in Catherine Giudici. We’re not talking the kind of love that lasts for a couple of months after a reality competition series has ended. We’re talking the kind of love that is leading straight to nuptials. The couple became engaged at the end of the 17th edition of The Bachelor and are now inviting fans to join them for a televised wedding, set to air in 2014.

On Sunday, January 26, ABC will air The Bachelor: Sean And Catherine’s Wedding. The big event will be aired live, marking the very first time a Bachelor wedding will air on TV in real time. ABC announced in a press release that the location for the wedding has yet to be set, but that a lot of the former contestants, winners, and couples from The Bachelor and The Bachelorette will be on hand to witness the big event. Sean and Catherine won’t be the first Bachelor couple to marry. They’ll join a list that includes Trista Rehn and Ryan Sutter, Jason Mesnick and Molly Malaney and Ashley Hebert and J.P. Rosenberg.

Anyone who keeps up with ABC’s long-running reality series will probably remember Sean from his first run on The Bachelorette. The “perfect” man, Sean vied pretty hard for the affections of Emily Maynard in Season 8, but she let him go just before the finale, in a move that shocked Sean (and fans). It ended up being a blessing in disguise. In 2012, Sean became The Bachelor and found his true life partner in Giudici. ABC’s really working the angle on that love story, but the important part is that Lowe and Giudici are happy and ready to commit their lives to one another.

If you do want to save the date, the January 26 wedding will air on ABC between 8 and 10 p.m. ET in the evening, which is a late ceremony, but should do well in the primetime ratings. Before the wedding, the couple have chosen to live apart, although they are both located in Dallas.

While it’s weird to think of a wedding having a host or executive producer, since The Bachelor: Sean and Catherine’s Wedding is being televised, ABC already has those credits in order. The Bachelor’s Chris Harrison is set to host the live event, and Mike Fleiss and Martin Hilton will executive produce.

To jazz you up for the big event, here’s Sean’s proposal to Catherine.
