I Wanna Marry 'Harry' Preview Shows Women Being Set Up For A Royal Ruse

Fox is gearing up for "one royal hoax" in the form of their new dating reality series I Wanna Marry 'Harry', which has twelve girls vying for the affection of a guy they're being led to believe is Prince Harry. Whom they apparently think might be looking for his bride on an American reality show. The latest preview of I Wanna Marry 'Harry' gives us some idea of how these women are being misled to believe they're about to be romanced by a Royal.

It's unclear at this point if I Wanna Marry 'Harry' will actually outright lie to these women and tell them that the man whose affection they're competing for at this enchanting English estate near London is Prince Harry, or if they're going with the "this is 'Sir'" approach and letting the women jump to their own conclusions. I mean, technically it wouldn't be lying if they just assumed... oh, who are we kidding? These women are getting tricked. But it's possible one or more of them will question just how legit this "Harry" is throughout the process.

Harry

I'd rather see at least one woman realize what's happening than watch a bunch of twenty-somethings fight over a guy they think is rich. The hoax element seems like a bit of a dated concept in the grand scheme of reality TV, doesn't it? In fact, the preview even reminds us that Fox brought us Joe Millionaire. The 2003 series had a group of women competing for the affection of Evan Marriott, a man they were made to believe just inherited millions and was looking for a bride. As it turned out, he was just an average guy (with above average looks). I guess the idea of the show was to reveal how superficial some people can be when it comes to money, but in the process, it had a bunch of women essentially being lied to by the guy they were supposed to fall for, for our entertainment.

Admittedly, It's hard for me to pass a lot of judgment there because I do remember being entertained by Joe Millionaire, but at the same time, I feel kind of bad for anyone being fooled on national television. Then again, when you're shopping for love on a reality TV show, I guess maybe the lesson to be learned is that you get what you get, right? With that in mind, like I said, I still kind of hope at least one of these Harry contestants figures it out.

Fox has I Wanna Marry 'Harry' lined up to premiere on Tuesday, May 27 at 8:00 p.m. Check out the network's list of upcoming series premieres here.
