Watch Sesame Street's Fun Game Of Thrones Parody Game Of Chairs

Of all the TV series that seem like they’d be a little too adult for the Sesame Street Muppets to handle, Game of Thrones is probably the most inappropriate, given how many deaths and boobs are involved. Yet the vastly different shows are perfectly meshed together in the sketch below, which takes the Game of the title quite literally.

This is excellence on every level, from the designs of the Game of Thrones characters, to Grover Bluejoy’s moronic movements helping him win the game, to all the in-jokes seen throughout the sketch. Grover is the best character to set in this universe, as he basically represents the opposite of every character in Westeros. Not that Big Bird and Joffrey are anything alike, but you know.

The impish Joffrey isn’t the only character we get to see here, thankfully, as Ned Stark is the one guiding the game, and Joffrey’s fellow contestants are “mommy of dragons” Daenerys, Cersei, Robb, and Tyrion. I am fully anticipating Funko’s Pop Vinyl series to have all of these out as collectible figures by the time Christmas rolls around.

A Sesame Street episode is probably the last place one would expect to see spoilers for Game of Thrones, but they’re certainly here if you’re looking for them. After Ned freaks out following Grover winning his spot on the throne, Grover tells him not to lose his head over it. Then after Joffrey loses, Grover says it looks like he choked. If only Jon Snow was on here, Grover might have inadvertently revealed who his real parents are.

While Game of Thrones’ Iron Throne is definitely one of the coolest and most iconic pieces of furniture on TV, I daresay I’d rather have any of the three Sesame Street knockoffs. One of them is made out of golf clubs and balls, one is made out of ping pong paddles and balls, and the other is made from baseball bats and balls. Not as badass as the Iron Throne’s swords, of course, but still a few nifty slices of pop culture.

If Game of Thronesending does indeed involve a furry blue monster rising through the ranks to become king, then you can bet PBS will be getting some angry letters. Presumably written in crayon.
