Watch Tina Fey Talk About Being Mistaken For A Prostitute

It’s hard to believe we went nearly two weeks without Jimmy Fallon in the late night lineup. The Tonight Show host returned to his desk on Monday night, and on Tuesday night, he decided to play a fun little game called, “True Confessions.” He also brought in comedy’s favorite ladies, Amy Poehler and Tina Fey, for the fun segment. Give it a watch.

In this game, each of the participants hold an envelope containing a truth and a lie. Fey, Poehler and Fallon took turns reading their stories from the chosen envelope, and the other two participants poked and prodded until they felt confident in guessing whether or not the speaker was being truthful or totally telling a lie. Tina Fey went first, and this is the story she expressed:

“I was once mistaken for a prostitute in Monaco, the small country. In 1992… I can’t tell you I was wearing a brown-and-white polka dot jumpsuit that I had bought at Express. It looked fantastic.

While Fallon noted he could totally buy that Fey would purchase a jumpsuit from Express, neither he nor Poehler felt she would ever go to Monaco, much less be mistaken for a prostitute while there. In fact, however, Fey revealed that the story she told from the envelope was actually the truth, rather than a falsehood. Here’s how the whole story came about.

My cousin and I went to the casino; again, we thought it was going to be bands playing or whatever and it was just ice cold weird Europeans quietly gambling. We were the youngest people there… and we realized this wasn’t our scene. This sort-of older gentleman came over and was like, 'I would love to buy the two of you dinner in this restaurant here'… it just sort-of became clear that the only possible explanation for why we would have been in there was that we were prostitutes.

Fallon and Poehler also had amusing stories to tell, although Poehler’s story involved Yoko Ono and was totally a lie. If Fallon hadn’t already recounted the story of his gruesome finger injury live on the air yesterday, he probably could have totally used the surgery story to fool his two former Saturday Night Live cronies. As it stands, however, we got a very different tale.

Fallon might be sporting a ridiculous wound dressing onstage right now, but it’s clear he’s still in fine form, despite the major surgery. You can catch The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on weeknights at 11:35 p.m. ET. In addition, you can catch Tina Fey and Amy Poehler in Sisters, which is expected to get a December theatrical release.
