Megan Fox Is Coming To TV, Find Out How

An actress who doesn’t have to actually be starring in anything in order to make headlines, Megan Fox kicked off her career on TV before rocketing to fame on the big screen in Transformers. Well it looks like her fanbase can get ready to watch her work some comedic magic directly from the living room again, as she has been added to the cast of Fox’s New Girl for Season 5. I can’t imagine what the look on Schmidt’s face will be when she shows up.

This won’t just be a mere guest spot role for Fox, either, as she’s set up to be a recurring character as the season goes on. Her name will be Reagan, and she’ll be a “gorgeous, straight-shooting pharmaceutical sales rep” who ends up renting out Jess’ room during the latter’s time out of the apartment while sequestered on jury duty. To be expected, new blood in the house will cause some turmoil of a sort with the guys, and probably with Jess, too, at some point. This sounds like the most sitcommy premise in modern TV history, doesn’t it? That’s just how New Girl rolls.

Apparently Fox’s casting isn’t just a fluke, either, as the creative team was aiming to get her involved. Here’s how executive producer Liz Meriwether puts it.

It’s insane to me that such a gorgeous person can be so funny, but I guess we just all have to accept it. I’ve been a fan of her comedic skills since This is 40, and I’m so excited to have her on the show. We had Megan in mind when we wrote this part – she’s the perfect person to come in and shake these guys up.

It looks like Fox will show up in the sixth episode of Season 5, according to Deadline, and she presumably won’t be the only new celeb making a presence in the world of Jess and the boys. Over the past four years, New Girl has brought in a ton of guest stars like Rob Reiner, Lizzy Caplan, Linda Cardellini, Jamie Lee Curtis, Olivia Munn, Carla Gugino, Stephen Amell, Jon Lovitz and many more. This year will be no different.

Last seen in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Fox will next reprise her role of April O’Neil for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: Half Shell and James Franco’s all-star comedy drama Zeroville. The last time we saw her on TV was in an appearance on TBS’ short-lived Wedding Band, and she voiced Lois Lane in the animated Robot Chicken: DC Comics Special.

New Girl will kick off Season 5 not in the fall season like it normally does, but rather at some point in January 2016, due to a filming schedule revolving around Zooey Deschanel’s pregnancy.
