Watch Melisandre Open Up About Jon Snow's Fate

Now that the majority of popular television shows are back from winter hiatus, there are only a few series which fans will be eagerly anticipating. One of the most anticipated new programming in 2016 is the upcoming Season 6 of HBO’s monster hit Game of Thrones. Game has a rabid fan base who have been debating the fate of their favorite characters, especially Jon Snow, since the Season 5 finale. On a recent episode of Late Night With Seth Meyers, the red woman herself Melisandre appeared in a sketch and chimed in on what Snow-gate. Check it out.

Hilarious right? The idea of having one of the larger than life Game of Thrones characters present in modern life is pretty genius. Kudos to the folks at Seth Meyers for coming up with such a simple yet amazing sketch.

While all of the sketch is pretty superb, it really reaches the height of it’s hilarity when Melisandre starts trying to connect with the other women at the baby shower. While in a conversation about dating (seeing Melisandre ask “are you seeing someone?” is one of the most strangely satisfying lines ever), the red woman opens up about Jon Snow. She refers to him a man she “works with” and is unsure of exactly where their relationship stands. Why is that? In her words, Melisandre says:

His name is Jon Snow but I’m not really sure he’s the right guy. I’m pretty sure he’s dead. Well, at least that’s the way it was left.

Melisandre’s assessment on her potential relationship with the Stark bastard pretty much sums up what we’re all thinking. Jon Snow is dead… kind of?

The promotional material for Game of Thrones Season 6 has only continued to bring up the question of Jon Snow’s fate. The first teaser focused a ton on Jon. The teaser opened with a shot of him alive, and ended with the last shot we saw- him bleeding on the ground. Additionally, the original poster was an image of Snow. Finally, the latest trailer in the hall of faces featured a lingering shot of Jon’s face, before we realized that faces of characters both alive and dead were present in the hall. What a tease.

Personally, I don’t believe we’ve seen the last of Jon Snow. While actor Kit Harington has been insistent that he will no longer be appearing on Game of Thrones, I think it’s all a smoke screen. I do believe that Snow died in the finale, but I don’t believe his death will stick. After all, Melisandre sauntered into Castle Black just moments before Snow was betrayed by his brothers.

We’ve seen high ranking priests who worship the Lord of Light have been able to bring back the dead before. Thoros had the ability to bring back the dead in Season 3, and we know that Melisandre has a ton of magical powers at her disposal. I would be surprised if she didn’t bring back Jon Snow eventually.

The new season of Game of Thrones will debut on HBO April 24th. Until then, we can watch Melisandre at a baby shower over and over again thanks to Seth Meyers.
