Why The Olsen Twins May Never Appear On Fuller House

Michelle The Olsen Twins Full House

With every season of Fuller House that premieres, the question on whether or not the Olsen twins will appear always seems to surface. The sisters have consistently declined the invite to appear, and series creator Jeff Franklin is at a point where he's done with asking. Franklin shares why the Olsen twins may never appear on Fuller House in the quote below:

Personally, I've given up asking them. The door is open, but I'm not going to be calling them anymore to invite them. They just don't seem interested in coming. It's been three years of invitations, so they know the door is open. It's up to them to decide if they want to come play or not.

As Jeff Franklin tells TVLine, it's now on the Olsen twins to reach out should they want to be involved with Fuller House. To date, they're the only series regulars who have not made an appearance on the show, although their character Michelle has been referenced quite a few times in the first two seasons of the show. But in Season 3 the references and fourth wall breaks towards the Olsen Twins are completely missing. Perhaps this decision was made due to Jeff Franklin's frustration in asking, or fans might see a reference or two when the second batch of Season 3 episodes arrive at a later date.

The stance of Jeff Franklin and the creative team of Fuller House now seems a far cry from their attitudes back when the series was first announced. Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen both seemed to express interest in the series when it was first announced, but ultimately backed out after negotiations with production. The twins have publicly given a reason for their absence, and while some stars of the series have stirred drama regarding their unwillingness to appear on the show, others have understood their position. After all, as Dave Coulier (Joey) has pointed out in past interviews, they were babies when Full House was first filming, so their connection to the series is bound to be different than the rest of the cast.

The first 9 episodes of Season 3 of Fuller House are now streaming on Netflix. For more on this season, read up on how Season 3 had to be changed up after one of the stars broke their leg.
