Raven’s Home Renewed For Season 2 On Disney Channel

While fall premiers are still being released on popular networks, many shows are already looking to whether or not they'll be renewed. And for those who were snubbed in the Emmy Award nominations, only high ratings and fan response are left to help secure a new season. But then there's the early success stories, like Disney Channel's new sitcom Raven's Home. Because while Season 1 is still airing over on Disney Channel, the network was already renewed Raven's Home for a second season.

Raven's Home made its debut in July, as a reboot/spinoff of the classic Disney Channel original series That's So Raven. Series lead Raven Symone left her gig at The View to invest her full attention on the series, which she is also executive producing. The new show also brought back original That's So Raven actress Anneliese van der Pol as the dim witted Chelsea, with the two friends bringing their children together to live under one roof. Yes, it sounds a bit like Fuller House, but you can't blame Disney Channel for trying to cash in on the profitable and very popular trend of nostalgia.

Raven's Home's renewal, which comes to us from EW, isn't much of a surprise. The new show has been doing pretty great in the ratings, especially considering that the original show's audience is in their twenties at this point. But young parents can also share the psychic adventures with their kids now, which is likely why Raven's Home has an average 1.5 million viewers per episode, after opening to an impressive 3.5 million with its premiere.

Both Raven's Home and That's So Raven revolve around a family who has the ability to have psychic visions of the future. In the new series, Raven's son Booker has the same ability, allowing both generations to get into the misinformed hijinks that the series is known for. Because the visions of the future are often vague or misleading, the characters act irrationally or get into trouble in response. If you were an OG fan, this was all explained in the oh so catchy theme song from That's So Raven.

With Raven's Home providing Disney Channel with another hit, it should be interesting to see if the network attempts to revive any more of its classic brands. Hillary Duff seems pretty busy with Younger at the moment, so Lizzie McGuire is likely out of the question. And with Cole Sprouse starring in The CW's Riverdale, The Suite Life Of Zack and Cody is out of the question as well.

Raven's Home airs new episodes Friday nights on Disney Channel. Be sure to check out our fall premiere list to plan your next binge watch.
