Fox's Singing Competition The Four Just Landed A Big Pop Star As Host

Fergie Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen

After ABC secured Ryan Seacrest for its upcoming reboot of American Idol, eyes have been on Fox in regards to who the network is looking to grab for their new reality music program, The Four: Battle For Stardom. The series, which has already grabbed quite a few big names, has grabbed one more star to take on hosting duties as it looks to make a splash amongst the reality singing competitions coming in 2018. Fox has announced that former member of The Black Eyed Peas and solo artist, Fergie, will helm the ship as four finalists compete for supremacy.

Fergie, who just released a new album back in September, joins The Four: Battle For Stardom's panelists Sean "Diddy" Combs, DJ Khaled, Meghan Trainor, and record label executive Charlie Walk in a competition that starts with four finalists and goes from there. Fergie expressed her gratitude to Fox and her excitement to appear in the series, which will consist of six episodes. That's pretty short considering the average length of American Idol or The Voice, but when a show starts with the finalists, what more can be expected?

As a recording superstar herself, Fergie might be able to tap into the depth of some of these singing contestants in a way that someone like Ryan Seacrest never could. Fox appears to tease in their press release that the pop sensation will attempt to guide these singers in what could be the most important experience of their lives. Fergie, who is an eight-time Grammy award-winning artist, is definitely a person anyone can take advice from let alone the finalists on The Four: Battle For Stardom, so it appears as though Fox definitely made a good choice in tapping her for hosting duties.

As for what Fergie will play host to, The Four: Battle For Stardom pits four finalists up against newcomers in a contest in which only one person will be left standing after six episodes. That artist will then be awarded the title of an iHeartRadio "On The Verge" artist, which means they'll get tons of exposure on all iHeartRadio stations and social media pages. The series is currently accepting applications for auditions, so anyone looking to get on the show still has a chance to do so before the premiere.

The Four: Battle For Stardom is set to kick off January 4th at 8 p.m. ET on Fox.
