Brad Pitt Apparently Bid A Ton Of Money To Watch Game Of Thrones With Emilia Clarke

Daenerys Emilia Clarke Game of Thrones HBO

As one of the breakout stars of Game of Thrones, and as a hilarious individual in general, Emilia Clarke unsurprisingly inspires people to want to pay tons of money to watch an episode with her. That said, it is surprising just how much Brad Pitt bid for the honor, with the actor offering to pay a staggering amount of moolah in hopes of scoring a Game of Thrones viewing with Clarke and co-star Kit Harington. For one hour of drama-soaked television with the Mother of Dragons, Pitt was apparently ready to drop $120,000 all in the name of charity and good company.

As part of Sean Penn's J/P Haitian Relief Organization "Steadying the Storm" Gala, the Thrones bidding started at $20,000 and quickly rose, with Pitt and others continually upping the price for a chance to hang out with Emilia Clarke for an episode. (Hopefully one of the longer ones.) After Pitt had outbid himself once already at $90,000, he quickly raised his offer to $120,000 when Kit Harington announced he would join in on the viewing. Now, Game of Thrones fans can be fanatical, but the fact that Brad Pitt was prepared to spend the equivalent of a mortgage for a modest midwestern home, just to hang with these two stars, might just prove he's one of the biggest GoT fans of all time.

Alas, there was one Game of Thrones fan in attendance that was more zealous. Variety reported Brad Pitt conceded after another attendee ended up getting the prize. The unnamed bidder scored the honor after spending $160,000 to watch one installment of Dany and Jon's escapades with Emilia Clarke and Kit Harington. While that ending isn't quite as exciting as the timeline where Pitt ended up winning, everyone involved can take solace in the fact that these people all helped raise a lot of money for charity.

While he didn't get a night with Game of Thrones' newest controversial power couple, Brad Pitt did not walk away empty-handed. The acclaimed actor scored a consolation NBA weekend experience with the San Antonio Spurs, which included a flight with the team, tickets to a game, and VIP seats for a team practice, and all for just $40,000. Time vs. money spent, that's a much better value for Pitt. Plus, he's famous enough he could probably just call Emilia Clarke and Kit Harington and ask if they want to binge a season with him at his house for free. Incidentally, Clarke herself was a big spender that night, and E! Online reported she dropped $80,000 on an art piece by Josh Smith.

Game of Thrones returns to HBO in 2019 for its Season 8, although maybe Brad Pitt can offer some cash to encourage HBO to bump that date up. (Probably not.) For a look at shows premiering this week and in the coming months, head on over to our midseason premiere guide.
