CBS’s The Unit, which will begin its 3rd season in a few weeks, focuses on a covert teams of special forces operatives, led by Jonas Blane, who routinely take part in undercover missions. Viewers get to see how the nature of the characters’ work affects their personal lives.
When we last saw the members of The Unit, they were being investigated by the government and facing possibly the biggest threat of their lives. When The Unit returns - spoiler warning - a character is in hiding, 2 more characters are imprisoned, and another character is on the run.
To be honest, I have never really heard much about The Unit. The most that I knew about it was that a guy that I recognized as a character on 24 (and also from those Allstate Insurance commercials) was on it. I had no idea who else was in it or what it was about. After reading up on the show, I can’t really say that it sounds like something I’d like to watch, although I’m sure that there’s an audience out there for this show somewhere. While it sounds like it would make a great 2 hour movie, I’m not sure it is something I’d want to commit to week after week. I like to watch TV to escape real life, and with the situation going on in the Middle East right now, The Unit sounds like it has the potential to hit a little too close to home.
