2013 Emmy Awards Date Set By CBS

The Emmy Awards just took place a couple of months ago, so it's a little difficult to gather a whole lot of enthusiasm for the television-focused award ceremony just yet, but that doesn't mean CBS isn't planning for it. In 2013, it'll be the Eye's turn to televise the event and the network has set and announced the date for the 65th Primetime Emmy Awards.

CBS made the announcement today, stating that the 65th Primetime Emmy Awards are set to air Sunday, September 22, 2013. That's the same weekend as this year's Emmy's, so no major change there. The awards ceremony, which recognizes some of the best TV had to offer from the previous year, will be broadcast live from NOKIA theater in Los Angeles.

This year's Emmy Awards took place on September 23 and the event was hosted by ABC late night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel. The last time CBS broadcast the event was in 2009 and Neil Patrick Harris hosted. I doubt many would complain if the How I Met Your Mother star returned for the gig. But it's still too soon to know who CBS might have in mind for that role. At the very least, we have a date and confirmation that we'll find the ceremony airing at CBS.

It's also a bit too soon to start speculating on nominees, considering we still have months of TV (all of midseason) to yet to air between now and the nominations, but for those looking ahead, the 2013 Emmy nominations are set to take place Thursday, July 18.
