Watch Ellen Give Jimmy Kimmel An Amazingly Heartwarming Surprise For His Son

2017 was a whirlwind year for Jimmy Kimmel, as the late-night host found himself in the public eye quite a bit. In addition to being onstage during the immortal Oscars flub, Kimmel's wife gave birth to their son Billy and the couple learned soon after he had a genetic heart disorder. Months later, Kimmel's son has improved, and his dear friend Ellen Degeneres had a special surprise for both Billy and Jimmy Kimmel they are sure to appreciate for years to come. Watch Ellen's amazingly heartwarming gift reveal below, and get ready to cry:

Jimmy Kimmel's ability to let his guard down on screen is endearing and one of the things that makes him so great to watch on late night television. Really though, could anyone keep from crying after learning Ellen DeGeneres arranged to have a hospital room dedicated to Kimmel's son Billy? Kimmel certainly couldn't as he teared up all while thanking some of Billy's nurses who the Ellen crew invited to sit in the audience during the reveal. Of course, it couldn't be all tears and heartwarming moments with two comedians in the room, and DeGeneres lightened things up by demanding Billy's plaque be taken down after she learned Kimmel's daughter is no longer a fan of her Pixar character Dory.

The friendship between Jimmy Kimmel and Ellen DeGeneres certainly sounds genuine. Kimmel mentioned this was not the first time DeGeneres did something nice on his son's behalf. Back when Kimmel's emotional monologue went viral on the web, DeGeneres used a massive giveaway in order to raise money for The L.A. Children's Hospital. The effort ended up raising $1,000,000 in donations for the hospital, and motivated Kimmel to call his friend very "DeGenerous" on Jimmy Kimmel Live!:

Can Jimmy Kimmel and Ellen DeGeneres just host a show together? Kidding aside, it's always cool to see two celebrities that appear to be genuine friends and aren't just posing for photos for publications and events to make it look like they are best buddies. Kimmel and DeGeneres always have wonderful interviews with each other whether it's on Jimmy Kimmel Live! or Ellen, so maybe next year the Academy can just have both of them on to co-host the Oscars? Both will have hosted the event twice in that potential scenario, so its only fair next time around they both get to do it.

Ellen airs on NBC weekdays at 4:00 p.m. ET. Jimmy Kimmel Live! airs weeknights on ABC beginning at 11:35 p.m. ET.
