Charlie Sheen was a mainstay in Hollywood for decades, starring in numerous movies before switching gears and headlining TV shows including Two and a Half Men and Anger Management. Following a tumultuous breakdown and an announcement that he had contracted HIV, Charlie Sheen has seen major roles slow down considerably, and now the actor is trying to get his child support payments down, stating that he has been "blacklisted" from Hollywood.
This week the former CBS and FX darling filed a request to modify the support he currently pays his ex-wives Denis Richards and Brooke Mueller. Back in 2016, the actor was ordered to pay $20,000 to Denise Richards to help with the upkeep of their two children, Sam and Lola. At the same time, he was tasked with paying $55,000 for Max and Bob, his kids with Mueller. In addition, he is supposed to pay his exes 9.5% of his gross income exceeding $2.1 million. Only, the actor really isn't acting all that much anymore.
Because of this, Charlie Sheen has filed requests to pay less in child support with the Los Angeles County Superior Court (via US Weekly), noting that he is making far less than he was even a few years ago. The actor's official statement follows.
I have been unable to find steady work, and have been blacklisted from many aspects of the entertainment industry. All of this has resulted in a significant reduction in my earnings.
Currently, the actor says he is in debt to his child support payments. He also says he owes money on his mortgage and to people who upkeep his estate, noting in the filing that he has less than $10 million to his name.
On his later seasons of Two and a Half Men, Charlie Sheen was earning a reported $1.8 million per episode. After the rest of the cast continued to have problems dealing with Sheen's erratic behavior on set, the actor was fired by showrunner Chuck Lorre. He went through a weird period tweeting about "tiger blood" online and appearing in The Comedy Central Roast of Charlie Sheen. Eventually, FX took a chance on the actor with another series Anger Management, but after two seasons and 100 episodes, FX quietly canceled that series, too.
The actor then was allegedly blackmailed by someone who knew about his HIV diagnosis and came forward to talk about it instead. Still, by that time, work had dried up a bit, and while Sheen has appeared in small roles in The Goldbergs and Typical Rick, as well as starring in the movie 9/11, he hasn't had the same amount of money coming into his bank each month as he had before. In fact, Sheen has largely been out of the public eye in 2018, although he did say he'd like to see Two and a Half Men reboot.
