Westworld Season 3 Has Added Aaron Paul

Aaron Paul shot to stardom thanks to his role as Jesse Pinkman on Breaking Bad, where he was able to showcase both his comedic and dramatic skills as an actor, at least until later seasons when Jesse was a wreck. The latest live-action series to showcase his talents was The Path on Hulu, which came to an end earlier this year. Fans need not despair that Paul will be indefinitely absent from the small screen, however, as Paul just landed a role in another big show: Westworld.

Yes, Aaron Paul will make his way to Westworld Season 3, although only time will tell which Westworld world will be the primary setting for the next batch of episodes. The second season proved that there's really no predicting what the show is going to do, to the point that even star Evan Rachel Wood lost track of what was happening. Unsurprisingly since this is Westworld we're talking about, spoilerific details about Paul's character are not yet available, although Deadline reports that he'll be a series regular.

We can only speculate about what kind of character he'll play at this point. The creators did reveal that "a radical shift" is in store for the third season, and the perceived backlash doesn't seem to have impacted the series. The creators also have an ending for the series in mind already, so it's possible that Aaron Paul's character has been in the works for a long time. Sadly, the show don't yet have a premiere date for its third season. Considering the long hiatus between Seasons 1 and 2, we may want to expect the show to stay off the air until 2020. Hey, at least we'll finally have the final season of Game of Thrones before then!

The good news on the Aaron Paul front is that he has another live-action show in the works that will likely premiere before Westworld Season 3. Paul landed a key role in the upcoming Apple drama Are You Sleeping, which also boasts actors like Octavia Spencer, Lizzy Caplan, and Mekhi Phifer. Paul will play a convicted murderer, so he'll probably be able to channel some of that Jesse Pinkman final season darkness. Jesse may not have been locked up as a murderer, but he'd definitely fallen into some dark places. Although the cancellation of The Path was a bummer for fans, at least it opened Paul up to accepting roles on new shows.

Aaron Paul has also contributed to Netflix BoJack Horseman, although only lending his voice to the animated comedy. Season 5 of BoJack launches Friday, September 14 at 12:01 a.m. PT on the streaming giant. If you need some shows to watch to pass the time while we wait for Paul to debut on Westworld, there are plenty of options on the fall TV lineup. You can also find Aaron Paul with the full series of The Path (on Hulu) and Breaking Bad (on Netflix).
