Netflix Announced Big Mouth Season 3 Renewal With A Perfect NSFW Photo

Big Mouth just got renewed in the most Big Mouth fashion. Netflix announced that the very adult half-hour sitcom -- led by Nick Kroll, voicing a version of his own tween self -- will return for Season 3. The streamer included an announcement video, but also this pretty perfect tattoo shot:

Yep, that tramp stamp says it all about this wonderfully raunchy comedy.

Big Mouth comes from real-life best friends Nick Kroll and Andrew Goldberg, offering a very real -- while still animated -- look at the horrors of adolescence. Kroll voices Nick Birch, with John Mulaney voicing Andrew Glouberman, as versions of Kroll and Goldberg's own middle school selves. Maya Rudolph, Jason Mantzoukas, Jordan Peele, Fred Armisen, Jenny Slate, and Jessi Klein also lend their voices to the series.

Here's Netflix's Season 3 announcement video, promising "Puberty gets even messier."

The first two seasons of Big Mouth have had 10-episodes each, and that will be the same for Season 3. And since the first two seasons premiered in fall 2017 and fall 2018, it stands to reason we can expect Season 3 in fall 2019. So far, Netflix has only confirmed that the third season will arrive in 2019.

The Netflix series has picked up a loyal cult audience, and they'll be thrilled to know more is coming next year. And maybe more will come every year after that, through the characters' college years? Critics have been massively supportive, even giving both Season 1 and Season 2 100 percent fresh ratings on Rotten Tomatoes. (The Audience Scores are a bit lower at this point, but still 78 percent for Season 1, and 84 for Season 2.)

Obviously Big Mouth embraces crude humor, but Nick Kroll revealed the one time Netflix actually told them they went too far:

The only note Netflix gave us on Season 1 -- Rick is like 'suck my sick little dick,' and we see him pull a thermometer out of his little dick and there's a spurt of blood that comes out after. Netflix was like 'how would you feel about not having that?'

A version of that line stayed, but the thermometer and blood had to go. But, as Nick Kroll suggests with that anecdote to Vulture, the streamer is still pretty lenient on the rest of the cringe-worthy sex humor. They realize that's what makes the show.

Netflix has had a lot of success with adult animation, including BoJack Horseman. (See? Animation isn't just for kids.) The first two seasons of Big Mouth are now available for streaming on Netflix. Gina Carbone

Gina grew up in Massachusetts and California in her own version of The Parent Trap. She went to three different middle schools, four high schools, and three universities -- including half a year in Perth, Western Australia. She currently lives in a small town in Maine, the kind Stephen King regularly sets terrible things in, so this may be the last you hear from her.
