CBS This Morning's Bianna Golodryga Reportedly Leaving The Show And The Network

Some jobs can seemingly last forever, but that's not so much the case for the majority of them. For instance, it was only back in October when CBS This Morning promoted reporter Bianna Golodryga to serve as a co-host on the desk, and just six months later, it appears as if she will be saying goodbye. It's being reported that Golodryga is stepping down from the anchor position and is possibly leaving the network altogether.

If she does indeed leave soon, Bianna Golodryga's exit will allegedly not be her own. According to HuffPost, new CBS This Morning boss Susan Zirinsky is of the opinion that the daily news program was already suffering from having too many anchors. As fans are aware, Golodryga had joined the three ranking leads Gayle King, Norah O'Donnell and John Dickerson.

That said, it doesn't sound like the overall goal was to oust Bianna Golodryga from the network altogether. It's stated that Zirinsky and others had hoped for Golodryga to stick with CBS after departing CBS This Morning, but a contract stipulation allows for the anchor to leave outright.

When Bianna Golodryga signed the deal with CBS This Morning for her promotion, the co-anchor position was guaranteed. The deal reportedly states that if she was taken out of the co-anchor role, then she had the option to leave. This was apparently the preferred route for Golodryga to take.

As late as early March, Bianna Golodryga was expected to remain part of the CBS This Morning team, but those expectations changed in the last week of the month. It's stated that those in Susan Zirinsky's inner circle were not to shocked to hear about Golodryga's impending exit, but that other CBS staffers were caught off-guard by the news, as were workers at CNN, where Golodryga remains under contract.

Golodryga was well-liked at both networks, so it was confusing to some that she hadn't been allowed to complete a full year of her contract. She is expected to continue her duties as a CNN contributor, however, and will likely appear more often if her CBS role goes away for good.

The job hunt may not take much out of Bianna Golodryga's life, either. According to HuffPost's sources, there are executives at other networks that could try to sway the journalist if her CBS exit gets finalized. Could she end up somewhere on NBC's Today or back on ABC's Good Morning America?

Bianna Golodryga was hired on at CBS News in September 2017, when she was working as a news and finance anchor for Yahoo News. She began her TV career back in 2001 as a producer for CNBC, and worked at ABC News from 2007-2014 as both a weekend Good Morning America anchor and as a business correspondent for the network.

Since Susan Zirinsky took over as CBS News' first female boss, there have been expectations for her to make sweeping changes across the board. That said, she has made it clear that keeping Gayle King is a big goal for the morning program, and King is in the midst of finalizing a major contract extension, not long after her own potential exit made headlines. (Considering King and O'Donnell make far more than Golodryga, it doesn't appear that losing the latter is financially motivated.)

If recent rumors are to be believed, Bianna Golodryga might not be the only CBS This Morning anchor heading out the door soon. Former Face the Nation host John Dickerson, who joined the CBS morning show in early 2018 as Charlie Rose's replacement, has been discussed as a potential anchor for 60 Minutes. Norah O'Donnell has also been rumored to make the move to CBS Evening News to replace Jeff Glor as anchor.

While the details haven't all been ironed out just yet, stay tuned to see what happens with Bianna Golodryga's CBS This Morning gig. Maybe CBS News will get The Big Bang Theory's Jim Parsons and Mayim Bialik to anchor the show now that their sitcom is leaving in a couple of months. You can watch the news program every morning on CBS at 8:00 a.m. ET.
