Watch Ryan Reynolds And Jimmy Fallon Spit All Over Each Other, Because Comedy

Jimmy Fallon and Ryan Reynolds held nothing back in a brutal game of spit take roulette. Reynolds was promoting his new movie Pokémon Detective Pikachu on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon when it happened. The competition involved a bit of detective work that required the use of one’s tongue.

Involved were cups with lids covering their liquid contents. If what was inside was water, they had to spit it at their opponent. If it was not water, they had to swallow it. What happened next was both funny and gross. Find out if Jimmy Fallon or Ryan Reynolds won by watching The Tonight Show clip below:

Jimmy Fallon started things off by faking out Ryan Reynolds. Rule #1: Never lean in when someone is taste testing to see if they have to spit in your face. It is safe to say that for Reynolds, this was a hard-learned lesson. He remained cautious for the rest of the episode, albeit some bad habits were hard to break.

What is similarly interesting is that Ryan Reynolds kept trying to keep his mouth shut when being spat at, only to keep it wide open. Maybe his brain overrode the desire to keep from swallowing Jimmy Fallon’s spit because he was thirsty?

Realizing he also did this, Jimmy Fallon covered his own mouth with both hands. When the moment of spit arrived, Ryan Reynolds ended up having Gatorade. Thus, he could not spit one out.

Ryan Reynolds did get back at Jimmy Fallon a little for the fakeout that started the game. When it came time for him to return the favor; he did so with a little taste delay of his own. Then he blasted Fallon with a spit take The Tonight Show host accurately described as “a little violent.”

Obviously, there had to be a winner and a loser. That said, was I the only one who thought that every non-water cup they had to drink was going to be terrible? A way to have a person lose even if they won. I guess that would not have been any fun and the purpose was the spit.

No one did end up having to drink that pickle juice. Because I like both Ryan Reynolds and Jimmy Fallon, I’m glad they did not have to. I am a little surprised that it did not happen though.

You know what helps wash out an experience as bad as having to endure being the subject of numerous spit takes? A trip to Olive Garden. Jimmy Fallon already proved that it can put a smile on many faces.

Pokémon Detective Pikachu hits theaters May 10. New episodes of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon air weeknights at 11:35 p.m. ET on NBC.
