How Sophie Turner Feels About Sansa Stark's Game Of Thrones Ending

Sansa Stark Game of Thrones HBO

Warning! The following contains spoilers for Game of Thrones' finale. Read at your own risk.

Game of Thrones is over, and now that the world has seen how the whole series played out, stars can now share their thoughts on how things ended for their characters. Sophie Turner shared her take on Sansa's conclusion, and while not everyone was happy Sansa was deemed ruler of one kingdom as opposed to 7, Turner believes it was just what Sansa would've wanted.

[E]ver since the end of Season 1, Sansa has not been about the capital or being queen. She doesn’t believe she could rule and doesn’t want to. She knows her place is in the North and she can rule the people of the North and rule Winterfell. She’d probably be capable [of being queen of the Seven Kingdoms] with the help of her family and advisors like Tyrion. But she has no desire to be ruler of all of the Seven Kingdoms.

So, while some may have thought Sansa was a better candidate than her brother Bran to rule Westeros, Sophie Turner told EW she believed her character got exactly what she wanted. She did seem to make out like a bandit compared to Bran and Tyrion, who were now tasked with the burden of rebuilding a kingdom that had been ravaged by war for years on end.

Granted, the North has problems of its own, but they're problems she's well aware of and best equipped to handle post-Game of Thrones. She'll likely face little to no opposition to her rule, especially after she successfully regained the North's official independence as a kingdom. It was a tremendous feat, made somewhat easier by the fact her brother king understood the importance of ruling to Sansa, and the North's history.

Now that Game of Thrones and Sansa's story is officially over, it looks like it's time for Sophie Turner to move on. The actress posted a heartwarming message to her character, the show, and fans on Instagram, and talked about how everything has shaped her since the series' beginning.

Will Sophie Turner miss Sansa enough that she'd be willing to return to another Game of Thrones project? Fans have been told not to expect any direct sequels to the HBO series, but with the finale's tease of new story directions, one has to wonder if there isn't at least one spinoff in development that's a continuation of the adventure. If so, there's always a chance Turner may one day return to the character she's loved so dearly.
