Jennifer Aniston Says Other Friends Stars Are Totally Down For A Reunion

Jennifer aniston on ellen talking about friends reunion

15 years after it went off the fair, Friends still has a powerful draw on TV viewers all over the world, and fans would completely lose their minds if the ensemble-driven comedy ever made a comeback in the form of a reunion special. The chances of such a thing happening remain in the "slim to no-chance-in-hell" category, but former star Jennifer Aniston is stoking the flames with intensity.

Recently appearing on The Ellen Show to talk about her upcoming Apple series opposite Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Aniston was (of course) asked about a Friends reunion. And while Aniston herself has been particularly gung ho about getting back to basics as Rachel Green, her answer here seems to imply she's not alone.

Okay. Why not? Listen, I told you this. I would do it. . . . The girls would do it, and the boys would do it, I'm sure. Listen, anything could happen.

As she capped that last sentence off, Jennifer Aniston broke into a big smile, seemingly realizing that she was opening up a pop culture pandora's box by saying such things about her fellow Friends cast members. I mean, she could accuse David Schwimmer of first-degree murder, and people would go, 'Oh man, that's pretty crazy.' But if she'd say Schwimmer is down to return for more Friends, fans would scale rooftops hollering, 'OMFG!!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!? Life! Is! Awesome!"

Perhaps that's being hyperbolic, but hardcore Friends fans are no joke. It seems likely that a third world war could go down whenever the show actually is forced to vacate Netflix. Perhaps the best thing the streaming service could do right now is partner up with Warner Bros. TV and Bright/Kauffman/Crane Productions in order to get the ball rolling on bringing the Friends cast and crew back together.

Of course, NBC would likely try and squash Netflix in that kind of a situation, since a Friends revival (or something of the sort) could easily solidify the network's stronghold on audiences in whatever given year it would happen in. As Roseanne's reboot (and even Last Man Standing's resurrection after a year off) have shown us, it's still possible to hook mass TV audiences with the right material. Considering Friends has somehow retained a major semblance of its peak popularity ever since it went off the air, its return could make all other TV revivals look like Ugly Naked Guy's bathtub drain.

So does everyone truly believe Jennifer Aniston's claims that just about everyone else in the Friends cast would be down to return for more? Lisa Kudrow is currently busy putting together a new Amazon pilot with Greg Kinnear called Good People, so she might be a little out of commission in the nearest future. But she recently hung out with Courtney Cox, taking to Instagram to share a silly pic from the hangout.

Courtney Cox has also had some fun getting Friends fans excited about the possibility of the show's return, posting a video a few months ago from the exterior of the show's central apartment building. More recently, she also shared the pre-Friends premiere shot of the cast on a plane to Las Vegas, an image that also popped up on Jennifer Aniston's Ellen Show appearance.

For now, fans will have to keep wondering what happened to Ross and Rachel, and whether or not Joey ever found true love. But perhaps one day, amidst all the one-off dinners and social visits the Friends cast shares together, maybe lightning can strike and an idea for a revival can be agreed upon. I mean, it says it right there in the theme song that they'll be here for us. So let's get them back!

All 10 seasons of Friends are currently available to stream on Netflix.
