Disney Star Cameron Boyce's Cause Of Death Revealed

Cameron Boyce of Disney fame tragically passed away over the weekend. Known for his work on Descendants, Jessie, and Gamer's Guide to Pretty Much Everything, Boyce was only 20-years-old at the time of his death. His cause of death was not confirmed when the initial news broke, and an autopsy was conducted to determine what happened. Now, the cause of death has been revealed. Boyce passed away as a result of a seizure due to epilepsy.

The family of Cameron Boyce released a statement (via People) stating that his "tragic passing was due to a seizure as a result of an ongoing medical condition, and that condition was epilepsy." The family went on to request continued privacy in this difficult time, saying this:

We are still trying to navigate our way through this extremely heart-wrenching time, and continue to ask for privacy so that the family and all who knew and loved him can grieve his loss and make arrangements for his funeral — which in and of itself, is agonizing.

When the news of Cameron Boyce's death first broke, his family revealed that he passed away in his sleep as a result of an ongoing medical condition that caused a seizure, despite treatment. At the time, it was not confirmed that the ongoing medical condition was epilepsy. An autopsy was performed to determine the precise cause of death after he was "found unresponsive," but details were still missing as recently as yesterday, as the investigation into his passing was still "pending."

Well before the cause of death was publicly revealed, Cameron Boyce's friends and coworkers from Descendants and Jessie paid tribute to the young actor, although there was a bit of a social media mess on Jessie star Debby Ryan's Instagram account. Descendants franchise director Kenny Ortega posted a particularly touching photo, and Skai Jackson, who played Boyce's on-screen sister on Jessie, shared her own message:

don’t even know where to start... I am at a loss for words. I never thought in a million years I would be writing this. Cam, you were one of a kind. My heart will be forever broken. I am so happy that I got to spend almost everyday with you on set, you gave the best hugs. I wish I would have hugged you tighter when I saw you a couple of months ago. Thank you so much for being the big brother I never had... I am so distraught and I cannot stop crying! I love you so much... fly high. Gods best Angel .

Cameron Boyce still has a new project that will air on the Disney Channel later this summer, and that should be bittersweet for fans. He'll appear in Descendants 3, which debuts on the Disney Channel on August 2. Be sure to tune in to see Boyce in one of his most popular roles one more time. I'd be very surprised if the TV movie doesn't feature a tribute to Boyce in some way or other.

Our thoughts here at CinemaBlend go out to the family and friends of Cameron Boyce in this difficult time, as they continue to ask for privacy.
