6 Questions Star Wars: Resistance Could Answer Ahead Of Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker

Neeku Vozo Star Wars: Resistence

Star Wars: Resistance is wrapping up on Disney Channel after 2 seasons, and while it's a bit bittersweet for those excited for Star Wars' sequel trilogy series, there are still plenty of reasons to be excited. Season 2 is set to cover the timespan of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and the narrative will lead up to the events set to happen in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

That means the Star Wars franchise has a chance to use this Resistance to fill some plot and character gaps ahead of the Skywalker Saga's conclusion by answering some pretty big questions fans have asked throughout the ongoing trilogy. Here are some of the questions I hope will be broached in the second and final season of Star Wars: Resistance as it sets the stage for whatever is coming in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Let's start of inquiring about Gwendoline Chrstie's fan-favorite villain.

Star Wars: Resistance Phasma

Is Captain Phasma Still Alive?

It may sound ridiculous to even suggest Captain Phasma could still be alive after her last scene in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, but this is Star Wars. Return of the Jedi saw Boba Fett get swallowed by a Sarlacc, but he survived to fight another day in non-canonical Legends material, though the new canon has yet to explicitly confirm his Sarlacc survival. Phasma is about one of the toughest First Order loyalists out there, so she might've found a way to escape a sure death.

Phasma has only had a brief presence in Star Wars: Resistance so far, and trailers show her talking to Commander Pyre. The question is, however, is whether or not these conversations happen before or after her fight with Finn in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. If it's the latter, then the story of Phasma's survival would lead into what she's doing in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

Knights of Ren Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Where Are The Knights Of Ren?

Remember the Knights of Ren? For those that don't, they were Kylo Ren's badass-looking followers that were seen briefly in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, though they haven't been seen since. They're confirmed to be returning in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, although one would think that film won't outline the full story of what all they've been up to since fans last saw them.

Perhaps the story of the Knights of Ren could get explained during Star Wars: Resistance. Or at least a chunk of it, anyway. The Knights' story will formally roll out via a comic book series from writer Charles Soule, so maybe Resistance could delver a brief appearance just show Kaz and friends brushing shoulders with the deadly group. Assuming, of course, that such an appearance would remind fans why everyone got so excited about this group to begin with.

Super Battle Droids Star Wars: Resistance

Will The Outer Reaches Play A Factor In Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker?

One really interesting bit from the recent Star Wars: Resistance Season 2 trailer features a group of rusted Super Battle Droids getting re-activated, seemingly to attack somebody. Now, it's not like it's impossible for a relic droid from the Separatist movement to show up, but canon dictates the vast majority of units were destroyed following the formation of the Galactic Empire.

Keeping these droids around during the Empire's reign would've been a terrible idea, and chances are that The First Order wouldn't look too kindly on anyone having them either. It feels like whoever may have held onto these droids is somewhere that's mostly untouched by the drama between the Rebels and First Order, or in a place that's not worth the trouble to formally invade it. In either case, it'll be very interesting to see how these Super Battle Droids will appear in Star Wars: Resistance.

Red Corsair Star Wars: Resistance

Will Space Pirates Appear In Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker?

Space Pirates have played a part in the expanded works of the Star Wars sequel trilogy, but they unfortunately haven't had much of a presence in the actual films. That may change in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, as Star Wars: Resistance has teased the appearance of a pretty notable pirate who played a role in other franchise works.

For those out of the loop, we're talking about the Crimson Corsair, who makes a brief appearance in the Star Wars: Resistance trailer. Corsair was seen briefly in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but the space pirate ultimately fell out of the story when Finn changed his mind about enlisting him to aid his escape. Could Corsair and other pirates return in this epic fight between the First Order and Resistance? Here's hoping!

Star Wars: Resistance

What Is The State Of The Galaxy Following Star Wars: The Last Jedi?

Perhaps the most important question Star Wars: Resistance could/will answer ahead of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is how the galaxy changed up following the battle on Crait. Keep in mind that while key members of the Resistance survived the encounter, with Kylo Ren looking like a fool, it was still mainly a victory for the First Order.

Star Wars: Resistance could show how things have changed since the Resistance's escape, and how successfully the First Order is operating under the guidance of Kylo Ren. At least, I'm assuming that's who's running the show in lieu of Supreme Leader Snoke, who seemingly died in The Last Jedi. The point is that some big things happened in very quick succession at the end of The Last Jedi, and The Rise of Skywalker may not have the time to outline all the important things that have made life easier or harder in the galaxy. Hopefully, someone had the foresight to have Star Wars: Resistance help fill some of those gaps!

Kylo Ren Star Wars: Resistance

Did The First Order Believe The Circumstances Behind Snoke's Death?

Supreme Leader Snoke's death definitely had to send shockwaves through the First Order, especially given the suddenness of his demise at the hands of "Rey." That's the official story told by Kylo Ren anyway, but as far as we know, there's no overwhelming evidence to prove it who actually that did the deed. As such, there are likely some within the First Order that cast doubt on the official outline of events, right?

If there are those who doubt the story, Star Wars: Resistance has a chance to portray that through Tam. She seems to be a fairly low-ranking member of the First Order, but surely she'd overhear chatter about what happened to Snoke, and the inevitable power struggle between rivals Hux and Ren. Ren was made to look fully in control at the time, but it wouldn't be surprising if Hux was plotting against him in the background in an attempt to seize power or expose Ren.
