Laurence Fishburne has announced the animated series Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur. Disney Channel has officially green-lit the series, which is based on Marvel’s super-successful comic books. As previously announced, The Matrix franchise star will executive produce the series. Here is what you need to know.

Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur is the story of 13-year-old super-genius Lunella Lafayette and her 10-ton T-Rex, Devil Dinosaur. In the series, Lunella accidentally brings Devil Dinosaur into the present via a time vortex. They will make the most of it in New York City!

Lunella Lafayette and Devil Dinosaur will unite to protect the Lower East Side from danger. In the comics, the duo shares a telepathic connection. News of the series was announced by Laurence Fishburne at Disney Television Animation’s panel at the D23 expo. Fishburne shared his excitement about Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, saying:

As an avid comic book fan, I am thrilled to be involved with Marvel's Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur. Disney Channel is the perfect platform to explore this pint-sized female African American superhero and I can't wait for their audience to enjoy the lighthearted adventures of Lunella and Devil Dinosaur.

The concept art above shows the characters relaxing together with the skyline of New York City behind them. News of the animated series means that viewers will get to see the characters in episodic form. A chance to see Lunella and Devil Dragon take on an assortment of adventures and intrigues!

Back in 2015, Marvel announced the addition of the female superhero. Lunella is the smartest character in the Marvel Universe. Jack Kirby created the T-rex character back in 1978. In this iteration, Lunella takes over as Devil Dinosaur’s partner and friend, Moon Girl.

Devil Dinosaur also gets to come into the present, which he did not get to do in the storyline with his previous partner. In early 2018, word of a Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur TV series made the rounds. At that point, it was unclear which of Disney’s channels it would air on.

The possibilities ranged from Disney Channel to Disney Junior and Disney XD. Disney Channel ended up winning this one! Will episodes end up on Disney’s upcoming streaming service? Stay tuned.

Cinema Gypsy Productions will produce the series, which Laurence Fishburne and his fellow black-ish executive producer, Helen Sugland, co-founded together. Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur is another collaboration between Fishburne and Marvel. Fishburne portrayed Bill Foster in the MCU’s Ant-Man and The Wasp.

As for Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, Marvel Animation & Family Entertainment will produce the series, alongside Kim Possible’s Steve Loter. Planes’ Jeff Howard and The Pirates Fairy’s Kate Kondell will act as co-producers and story editors on Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur. The show sounds like the perfect selection for the whole family to enjoy!

Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur does not have a premiere date yet, so stay tuned. There will be an endless supply of fall premieres.
