The streaming game is heating up more than ever thanks to the reveal that FX's TV shows will stream exclusively on Hulu in the not-too-distant future. For a long time, FX didn't have the strongest streaming option, and only select series were available elsewhere, like Netflix. Now, thanks to Hulu and FX both existing under the Disney umbrella, a whole lot of FX is coming to Hulu.

March 2020 will see the launch of FX on Hulu, which will see the addition of a library of more than 40 shows going back 17 years, including current series like American Horror Story with episodes immediately after they air on FX's linear channels, legacy series, and original series. FX Networks chairman John Landgraf revealed that FX on Hulu will put them "on equal footing with competitors like HBO" as well as expand FX to "Hulu's growing audience of young and highly engaged subscribers."

Among the current FX original series that will make it to FX on Hulu are American Horror Story, Archer, Mayans M.C., It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Atlanta, and more. As for legacy series, expect Sons of Anarchy to go with that Mayans M.C., The Strain, Baskets, The League, among many others.

So, what's in store with the original series? Some big names, for one! Among the stars of the upcoming FX on Hulu original series are Cate Blanchett, Elizabeth Banks, Sarah Paulson (fittingly, as an FX regular), John Slattery, Kate Mara, and Jeff Bridges. That said, don't expect these actors (and many others) to appear in ongoing original series. Three of the four exclusive series currently slated for FX on Hulu are limited.

One of the first projects to debut on FX on Hulu will be limited series Devs in spring 2020, which will be a tech thriller focusing on a young software engineer, who suspects foul play and begins to investigate after her boyfriend seemingly commits suicide, which leads to the discovery of a tech-based conspiracy with global implications. Devs stars Sonoya Mizuno, Nick Offerman, Jin Ha, and Allison Pill.

Also debuting in spring 2020 is the star-studded limited series Mrs. America, featuring the aforementioned Cate Blanchett, Elizabeth Banks, John Slattery, and more. Mrs. America follows the movement to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment in the 1970s, the backlash from a conservative woman, and the shift of the American political landscape.

The third limited series is A Teacher, which is scheduled for premiere in summer 2020. The Kata Mara-starrer is based on the scandalous film of the same name, centering on an affair between a female high school teacher and underage student. A Teacher received a limited order of 10 episodes.

Finally, we have The Old Man as FX on Hulu's only currently-planned ongoing series. Starring Jeff Bridges and based on a novel of the same name, the show sees a former CIA agent facing an attack from an assassin despite living off the grid, and he must confront his past to survive into the future. The drama will launch in fall 2020 on FX on Hulu.

Disney's Fox Deal Just Killed Off Another Streaming Service

As consumers who have kept up with the ongoing and escalating streaming wars between the likes of Hulu, Netflix, Amazon, and soon Disney+ are probably aware, both Hulu and Disney+ are owned by Disney. Based on the early news of FX on Hulu, it sounds like Hulu will be the place to be for some of the more adult fare under the Disney banner, while Disney+ will be more family-friendly. That's not to say that youngsters are the target audience for The Mandalorian, but FX on Hulu definitely seems aimed at adults.

No precise date for FX on Hulu's launch has been announced, but it will go live at some point in March 2020. For now, you can always tune in to FX programming via linear viewing.
