During Disney’s D23 Expo back in August, Marvel's chief creative officer, Kevin Feige, announced that the studio was developing a standalone She-Hulk series for Disney+. Having played Hulk in several of the movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Mark Ruffalo already has an actress in mind to play She-Hulk and his choice is more than a little surprising.

It was only a matter of time before Bruce Banner was joined by his cousin, the slightly less angry Jennifer Walters, known best as She-Hulk. Mark Ruffalo was recently asked what his opinion was regarding who should play the superhero in the upcoming She-Hulk series. Here’s what the actor, who once spoiled Avengers Endgame, had to say:

I mean, Tessa Thompson's already Valkyrie but she'd be a great She-Hulk.

Mark Ruffalo’s answer just goes to show how fond he is of his MCU co-star. The pair first worked together while filming Thor: Ragnarok, when Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie teamed up with the Hulk to escape and help Thor (Chris Hemsworth) return to Asgard to fight his villainous sister, Hela (Cate Blanchett).

Although Mark Ruffalo’s response, which he gave to ET while attending the SAG-AFTRA Foundation's Patron of the Artists Awards, was surprising, it isn’t at all likely that Tessa Thompson will be cast in the role.

However, there are a lot of other actresses out there who would be perfect for the role. Even Rosario Dawson expressed interest in playing She-Hulk when a fan artist envisioned her in the role. At the very least, the Hulk, who was able to combine both alter-egos to become Professor Hulk in Avengers: Endgame, might introduce Valkyrie to his cousin one day. I’d be here for that team-up!

Back when the She-Hulk series was first announced, Mark Ruffalo excitedly welcomed the character into the Marvel family. She-Hulk was announced alongside Ms. Marvel and Moon Knight series, all of which are in the early stages of development.

There’s currently little information about who She-Hulk will cast, what the plot will be, or even if Mark Ruffalo could make a guest starring appearance on the show. However, in the comics, Jennifer Walters is a lawyer who finds herself in need of an emergency blood transfusion. After Bruce Banner offers her the blood she needs, it gives her the ability to morph into She-Hulk. I expect the series to include at least some of She-Hulk’s comic book backstory, while giving its own spin on the character.

She-Hulk doesn’t have a scheduled release date yet and has not begun filming, but stay tuned to CinemaBlend for all updates on the upcoming Disney+ series.
