9-1-1 Season 3 Will Return With A Heart-Melting Buck And Christopher Scene

9-1-1 kicked off its third season by turning Buck and Christopher's fun day at the Santa Monica Pier into a fight for their lives due to a massive tsunami hitting the coast, so the first few episodes of Season 3 were heavy on the bond between Buck and his best friend's adorable little boy. Their arcs in the first half of Season 3 following the tsunami mostly took them in different directions, but actor Oliver Stark promises some goodness is on the way to melt viewers' hearts.

Oliver Stark shared that a "really lovely sequence" is on the way between Buck and Christopher in Episode 12, and it is "going to melt people's hearts." Stark elaborated on what's in store to TVLine, saying this:

We’ve seen them struggle through so much darkness this season. This is a chance to see them just having fun. I can’t wait for people to see it.

I think it's probably safe to say that this heart-melting, lovely scene won't involve another tsunami! Buck and Eddie had to keep apart after Buck filed his lawsuit that meant he had to remain separate from his friends at Station 118, and keeping separate from Eddie meant separate from Christopher as well. While Buck and Christopher must have had some good times off-screen between the drama, fans are in for some fun on-screen!

Hopefully this won't be because Eddie needs a babysitter while he gives fight clubs with Lena Bosko a second try. He seems to have gotten his head on straight again after the fight club fiasco toward the end of the first half of the season, and reconciling with Buck to the point that Buck can hang out with Christopher again should be good for him. Will Eddie be part of the Buck/Christopher scene?

Only time will tell on the Eddie front, but Buck is likely in for some drama in the second half of Season 3 that could make some fun with young Christopher exactly what he needs. Connie Britton will reprise her role as Abby after departing way back at the end of Season 1. 9-1-1 showrunner Tim Minear shared that Abby has "some unfinished business," and that Buck is "kind of lost at sea right" now.

While hanging out with Christopher can't provide Buck any closure with Abby, hopefully he'll have some good times to go with any angst that comes with Abby's return. Of course, it's possible that Buck will be absolutely fine when Abby rolls back into town, but Connie Britton isn't returning as a series regular. If Buck entertains any hopes of restarting their relationship but doesn't want to leave the LAFD after fighting so hard to get back, then something is going to have to give.

9-1-1 returns to Fox for the second half of Season 3 later in 2020. For some additional viewing options now and in the not-too-distant future, be sure to check out our 2020 winter and spring premiere guide.
