5 Theories For How The Mandalorian Season 2 Could Introduce Ahsoka Tano

Ahsoka Tano

Star Wars fans were blown away recently when it was revealed that Rosario Dawson had been officially cast to play the role of popular Star Wars character Ahsoka Tano in the second season of The Mandalorian. This will be the character's live-action debut, and it very likely could be the beginning of a long term plan for the character on Disney+. But the big question that we're now left with, is how will Ahsoka be introduced into The Mandaloran Season 2.

At this point, we can only theorize, no details about the show's plan have been revealed. However, if we look back at the history of Ahsoka Tano in Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Rebels, and then combine them with what happened in Season 1 of The Mandalorian there are a few strong possibilities that present themselves. Here are a few theories about how Ahsoka might join Mando.

Moff Gideon with the Darksaber

Ahsoka Seeks The Darksaber

The last time we see Ahsoka Tano in Star Wars Rebels, she's in the company of Sabine Wren, a Mandalorian who was once in possession of the Darksaber. The same Darksaber we see in the hands of Moff Gideon in the final shot of The Mandalorian Season One.

The Darksaber is a unique lightsaber created by an old Mandalorian Jedi, and it's a symbol of Mandalorian leadership. It's unclear how Moff Gideon got his hands on the object, the last we see it in Star Wars Rebels Sabine gives it to Bo-Katan Kryze, who unites the clans of Mandalore with it. But if Ahsoka and Sabine know that he has it, they almost certainly would want to get it back. It's both a Mandalorian and a Jedi artifact, and Sabine especially, if she's still with Ahsoka, would want it out of the hands of the ex-Imperial.

Ahsoka and Yoda in Star Wars Forces of Destiny

Ahsoka Senses Baby Yoda

On of the most interesting things about The Mandalorian is that, not only is it a Star Wars show devoid of Jedi, the main character is entirely ignorant of the order, as well as the concept of the Force. But Baby Yoda is strong in the Force, and we know there are other Force users out there. If Mando and the Child are traveling long enough, one is sure to find them.

Ahsoka Tano isn't a Jedi, but she was once, and she's strong in the Force regardless. If Ahsoka senses The Child, a being so much like Master Yoda, she would be very likely to investigate. She might even have information about Yoda that could help The Mandalorian on his quest to return the Child to its home. It's unclear how much the Jedi actually knew about Yoda's race or history. It's even possible that Ahsoka, being a Force user, could become The Child's new protector, if The Mandalorian decides to go in a new direction with its story.

Ahsoka Tano

A New Jedi Order

Ahsoka Tano left the Jedi order during The Clone Wars, and through the end of the events of Star Wars Rebels, she does not return. However, at the end of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, we hear the voice of Ahsoka speaking to Rey along with all the other Jedi we know. This has led some to speculate if, at some point between these two points, did Ahsoka become a Jedi after all?

The Mandalorian doesn't know much about the Force or Jedi, but he has now heard their names. If, during his quest to find The Child's home, he hears anything about other Jedi, he would almost certainly investigate, as they may know something about Baby Yoda's origins or home world. Perhaps this is where he finds Ahsoka.

Sabine Wren

Journeys In Wild Space

The last time we saw Ahsoka Tano in Star Wars Rebels, she and Mandalorian Sabine Wren were going off together in search of Ezra Bridger, the young Jedi who sacrificed himself to save his friends and his home at the end of that series. He's alive, but he was last seen flying off into hyperspace to parts unknown. So, it's possible that she will still be on that quest when we see her in The Mandalorian. One assumes Ezra ended up someplace quite distant, or he would have found his way home.

Based on the fact that the known galaxy isn't familiar with Baby Yoda or his species, it's not inconceivable that the home planet that The Mandalorian is searching for is also some place quite distant, one in the uncharted regions of the galaxy known as wild space. And so. perhaps Ahsoka and Mando will cross each others paths as they are both on different paths, that go through the same place. It's a long shot, space is you know, pretty big, but the Force does strange things.

Ahsoka and a Mandalorian

The Siege Of Mandalore

This one is somewhat less of a theory, and more an idea, but the answer as to how Ahsoka Tano could cross paths with The Mandalorian could have something to do with an event we haven't seen yet, The Siege of Mandalore. The battle was referenced in The Mandalorian by Moff Gideon, and we know we're going to see it in episodes of the final season of The Clone Wars, currently airing on Disney+.

We know Ahsoka Tano was there. We know Moff Gideon has a history with Mandalore, he was part of the Great Purge. While the Siege of Mandalore takes place somewhere in the middle of Ahsoka's life, prior to everything we see in Rebels, it's still possible that when we see these new episodes, it will clue us in to something that ties Ahsoka to The Child, The Mandalorian, Moff Gideon.

Of course, there's no real way to even be sure if Ahsoka's past will have any bearing on how she enters the story of The Mandalorian. She could just be living on some planet that Mando ends up on randomly., that's how he usually makes friends. Still, one of these theories could turn out to be right. Some of them even fit together in ways that could make more than one hold some kernel of the ultimate truth. In the end, it likely matters less how or why Ahsoka will be making her live-action debut. For fans, it just matters that it's actually happening.
