New Star Wars Actress Rosario Dawson Already Has Ideas About Joining Star Trek

Rosario Dawson Luke Cage Netflix

Rosario Dawson has been a part of Netflix's Marvel universe, she's allegedly heading to Star Wars via The Mandalorian, and she's eyeballing a role within the world of Star Trek. Dawson recently expressed interest in joining the modern Star Trek shows on CBS All Access, and noted a high-profile character she's interested in playing that would allow her passage between both shows.

Granted, Rosario Dawson revealed she was more content for just about any character in the franchise until her father interjected. Now that the actress has heard her father out, she told Variety she's down to portray a member of the Q Continuum on future Star Trek shows.

I was thinking that I know people who do makeup on it and I could just be a background Romulan or Vulcan or whatever. It would be so fun to just throw me in there. I could just walk through as a Klingon. Just something in the background. And my brother got really mad and said 'absolutely not!' I was thinking I could just be a red shirt, who always get killed. He was 'No! We talked about this. You have to be a captain!' He plays the Star Trek Online game and does missions and thinks I have to at least be a captain. But then my dad said I should be Q. Because male Q, female Q, young Q. They are all just Q. It’s the Q continuum. It would be great. Then I could jump on Discovery and I can be on Picard. I just want to be on with Jean-Luc Picard.

Rosario Dawson's love of Jean-Luc Picard comes from her longtime status as a Star Trek fan, which has been documented throughout her career. Dawson has made pleas to be included in J.J. Abrams' Trek movies, but to this point, has not been a part of the franchise in her career.

The actress is correct that it's possible for her to play a Q. The near omnipotent, omniscient, and time-affecting beings played a heavy role in Star Trek: The Next Generation as well as Star Trek: Voyager. Jean-Luc Picard went round and round with Q in Star Trek: The Next Generation, and later aided the species in some Star Trek novels. Bringing in Rosario Dawson to play a Q on Star Trek: Picard could retread some of that familiar territory, as well as allow for some of the more fun premises of past Star Trek episodes.

Right now, there has been no word Alex Kurtzman intends to bring the Q Continuum into the modern Star Trek shows like he does with other characters, though it wouldn't be hard to believe plans are in the works to utilize them eventually. This is especially true for Star Trek: Picard, in which the species was mentioned very briefly in Season 1. If there are plans, Star Trek could do a lot worse than having Rosario Dawson join up for a character.

Star Trek: Picard and Star Trek: Discovery are both available to stream on CBS All Access. Stick with CinemaBlend for continued updates on the Star Trek franchise, and for a look at what's happening in television and movies.
