Legends Of Tomorrow's Cast Looks Awesome As Star Trek Characters In New Images

For five seasons, Legends of Tomorrow — perhaps the zaniest of all the Arrowverse shows — has executed some wild time travel storylines. From fighting ancient gods, to becoming a giant stuffed animal, and taking down a time displaced Genghis Khan, the Legends have seen and done a lot. An upcoming adventure is about to get even weirder than usual, sending them to the world of television. Preview images from the episode, called "The One Where We’re Trapped on TV," sees the cast looking awesome as Star Trek and Downton Abbey characters.

Just as the Season 5 episode title suggests, the Legends will be separated and thrown into different TV shows, sent there by Charlie to protect them from her sisters, Lachesis and Atropos, a.k.a. the three Fates from Greek mythology. Sara and Ava look like they end up on a Star Trek-inspired show, while John Constantine, Zari, and the rest of the crew land in a period drama a la Downton Abbey. Take a look!

Sara and Ava have been beamed onto a spaceship, though it’s unlikely the Enterprise itself. Legends of Tomorrow has managed to pay tribute to other television shows before, like with the Season 5 episode "Mr. Parker’s Cul-De-Sac," and this episode is definitely an homage to Star Trek. Just look at the insignia on their shirts and the phasers in their holsters! Ava is evidently supposed to be Spock with those eyebrows.

Ava clearly looks confused and Sara just a little bit pissed. I would be too if I was just dropped into the middle of a TV show. But, what’s more interesting is who’s standing behind the pair. Two of the ship’s crew members are at the controls, wearing a skirt and shorts, respectively. This is funny because Stark Trek is known for having all the men wear pants while Lt. Uhura had to wear a skirt. Legends of Tomorrow is making things equal.

Mick Rory has been bonding a lot with his daughter lately, after not knowing she existed until Season 5, and has largely been left out of Legends missions. “The One Where We’re Trapped on TV” looks like that’s changing.

In the preview image, Mick actually looks like he's done some wrong and gotten himself locked up aboard the ship. Maybe he stole something he shouldn't have or he's meant to be playing an alien species who was captured. Either way, someone needs to explain why he's sporting a white wig. At this point, he looks like the Legends version of Wrath of Khan's Khan Noonien Singh!

While Sara, Ava, and Mick are off in fictional space, everyone else is dressed to the nines in their finest period clothes. I don't know that I've ever needed a Downton Abbey spoof, but if Legends of Tomorrow's delivering one then I'm here for it. What's most fascinating about this photo, beyond the fact that the Legends look like they're fitting in almost too well, is that Behrad is back!

Zari's brother died a few episodes ago, his fate cut short by Atropos herself. In the episodes since, Zari and the rest of the Legends have been trying to find the remaining pieces of the Loom of Fate to bring him back and it looks like they've succeeded.

It seems Constantine wastes no time getting down to business. This image looks like he's doing a magic trick, but upon closer inspection, the card he's holding is a tarot card. What it might mean and why he has it remain to be seen, but probably to do with the mission at hand. It's either that or he's holding onto it because it'll possibly help him destroy Atropos and Lachesis.

Star Trek and Downton Abbey aren't the only TV sets Legends of Tomorrow will be visiting. A preview trailer for Season 5 revealed that the show will also be parodying Friends, the popular NBC comedy. "The One Where We're Trapped on TV" will also be special because it marks the directorial debut of former Arrow showrunner Marc Guggenheim.

Check out the Legends of Tomorrow episode when it airs on Tuesday, May 26 at 9:00 p.m. ET. For more on what to watch in the meantime, be sure to check out our 2020 summer TV premiere guide.
