How Long Will Pete Davidson Stay On Saturday Night Live? Here's What He Said

Pete Davidson on Saturday Night Live (2019)

Of the various personalities that have graced the stage at 30 Rockefeller Plaza as a Saturday Night Live cast member, Pete Davidson has definitely emerged as one of the most unique. The young comedian’s eccentric brand of humor and his off-camera antics have made him both a beloved and controversial part of the show’s history. Although, with his growing interests, many are wondering just how much longer Davidson plans to remain with SNL. Now, he’s sharing his thoughts on his future with the NBC sketch show.

Pete Davidson revealed that he plans to remain with Saturday Night Live as long as the cast and crew will have him. He’s also grateful for the connections and mentorship that he’s found during his tenture:

I will be there as long as they allow me to be. I think I'm very lucky to be on that show and I'm really lucky to have Lorne Michaels as, you know, not only a mentor and a boss, but a friend. I'll be there as long as they allow it.

Per his comments to ET, it would seem that Pete Davidson is far from finished with SNL, which should be good news for fans. He previously opened up about almost quitting the show following Season 44, his fifth year on the series. This was due to his belief that he was sometimes treated poorly by the cast and crew.

Davidson was only 20 when he joined Saturday Night Live back in 2014, making him the first cast member born in the ‘90s and one of the youngest cast members ever. Over time, he became a hit with audiences but, as mentioned, he also garnered the show some unwanted attention.

The actor got in hot water after making comments about former Navy Seal Dan Crenshaw, who lost an eye in combat. Ultimately, Pete Davidson apologized, and both appeared on the show together, during which Crenshaw roasted Davidson. Behind the camera, Davidson’s personal relationships with stars like Ariana Grande and Kate Beckinsale have also drawn massive media attention. In addition, he’s battled mental health issues, which, at times, has left fans worried about his well-being.

More recently, Pete Davidson appears to be doing well and is branching out into new things. He’s currently looking towards the release of his latest film, The King of Staten Island, a dramedy that was somewhat autobiographical for him. He’s also set to appear in James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad next year.

Although his star his growing in different directions, it’s good to hear that Pete Davidson is still planning to stay with the show that made him a star. One can also hope that he remains in the positive mindset that he’s currently in. Audiences will see Pete Davidson back on Saturday Night Live when the show returns for its 46th season on NBC.
