How Miley Cyrus Would Feel About Bringing Hannah Montana Back One Day

Over the past few years, Miley Cyrus has continued to make a name for herself as an entertainer through both her acting and singing. But despite how long she’s been in show business now, there are still plenty of people who still know her for playing the lead role in Disney Channel’s Hannah Montana during the 2000s. With TV sequels and reboots becoming a massive trend, many have wondered if Cyrus would ever consider reprising her role for a new show. Now, the actress has chimed in on the possibility.

It sounds like Miley Cyrus is actually open to the idea, as she recently revealed that she does occasionally consider donning the blonde wig again. Though if Hannah Montana ever does return, Cyrus thinks the character may need to be updated a bit:

You know what honestly, I try to put that wig on all the time. She's just in storage collecting dust and I'm ready to whip her out. . . . The opportunity will present itself. I definitely would like to resurrect her at some point. She needs a big makeover because she's kinda stuck in 2008, so we'll need to go shopping with Miss Montana.

Miley Cyrus definitely seemed to be high on the idea of bringing back Hannah Montana during her recent appearance on Carolina With Greg T In The Morning. This may come as a surprise to many fans who were probably under the impression that she’d put the character to bed.

At times, Cyrus has proven to be somewhat nostalgic about the character, but she also hasn’t strayed away from being a bit morbid about the role. Still, she did channel the character (along with her real-life status as a pop star) for her role in Black Mirror.

Hannah Montana originally premiered on Disney Channel back in 2006. The multi-cam comedy centered on Miley Stewart, a teenage girl who lives a double life as a famous popstar. The show would run for four seasons before ending in early 2011. During its run, the series became massively popular, spawning various CDs and a feature film.

Given that so much time has passed since the show first debuted, Miley Cyrus would be right in saying that the character would probably need to be revamped for the modern audience. And from a storytelling perspective, you have to wonder what would cause Miley Stewart to take up her old alter ego again. But as always, Hollywood finds a way.

It remains to be seen if Disney Channel would have any interest in reviving Hannah Montana, but it’s fair to assume the network wouldn’t flat-out reject the notion. After all, shows like Boy Meets World and That’s So Raven also found new life on the channel through reboots. So Miley Cyrus’ opportunity to reprise her breakthrough role may come sooner than we think.
