Why 90 Day Fiance Fans Should Know About Deavan's And Jihoon's Incident With Drascilla

Deavan Clegg 90 Day Fiance: The Other Way

Warning! The following contains spoilers for the 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way episode "Sticks And Stones." Read at your own risk!

Deavan Clegg and Jihoon Lee actually had a positive edit on this week of 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way, so it's a real shame that news recently broke revealing the two are no longer together. Even throughout the positivity of the episode, though, the much-discussed situation involving Deavan's daughter Drascilla running off into the street reared its ugly head, and some fans have been quick to go off on Deavan and her mother Elicia Clegg for their off-the-rails reaction to an incident that looked like no big deal on camera. Only, the real moment never actually got filmed.

Deavan revealed that she and her mother have received much criticism from the Internet following the episode, so she took to Instagram Live to set the record straight. For those that may have missed it, here's what Deavan said after seeing how it played out on 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way in its entirety:

I was putting Taeyang in the car and [Jihoon] was texting on his phone. The time you saw [Drascilla] run wasn’t the second time she ran, which is what caused the fight. She ran off and a car almost hit her, and instead of grabbing her, [Jihoon] turned around and started screaming at me in front of my mother for a while. None of that part was caught on film, and I feel like this made tonight’s episode confusing because you guys didn’t see the footage that wasn’t caught on camera.

As viewers may have seen in the episode, the 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way production crew was chilling out when the incident happened, perhaps assuming filming was done for the day. The result, according to Deavan Clegg, is that they didn't capture the full scope of what happened, including the actual moment where Drascilla was almost hit by a car. Thus, the show's producers and editors only had select footage to choose from in presenting that heightened situation to viewers, and it appears they were cool with the most key moment being left out.

Reality television editors have long been known to present skewed versions of real events, sometimes intentionally (with out-of-context reaction shows) and sometimes unintentionally. In this case of 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way, the camera crews missed the inciting incident, but still had an obligation to film Deavan Clegg and her mother handling the aftermath with Jihoon Lee. Overall, it's obviously better to get a bigger picture of what's happening in these couples' relationships, and perhaps a disclaimer that the full situation was not captured would've prevented the backlash from fans.

As mentioned, Deavan Clegg and Jihoon Lee's break-up has been confirmed, and while the editors might not have known that was coming, arguments like this are always going to get covered. And depending on how negatively or how positively the show depicts their relationship for the rest of the season, it might have seemed weird for that big ol' fight to get left out due to missing footage, regardless of what other factors were at play.

All that said, fans should be always be a little more sympathetic to others, and they perhaps should. not have been so quick to judge Deavan and Jihoon based solely on what they saw in an episode. What do you all think about Deavan and Jihoon's situation now?
