One Mandalorian Star Is Already Hyping The Answers Coming In Seasons 3 And 4

Giancarlo Esposito as Moff Gideon on The Mandalorian (2019)

The wait for the second season of The Mandalorian is almost at an end and, after the release of the first trailer, excitement among the fans seems to be at an all-time high. There a lot of questions going into the new season, and many are eager for answers. Giancarlo Esposito, who plays the villainous Moff Gideon, has already teased that we’ll learn more about his character in the upcoming season but, now, he seems to be dropping a few hints about Seasons 3 and 4 of The Mandalorian.

Giancarlo Esposito recently explained that Season 2 of The Mandalorian will shed light on key aspects of the show, particularly The Child’s history and the powerful Darksaber. Interestingly though, he went on to mention that this new story will lay the storytelling groundwork for not one but two future seasons of the show:

The next season of The Mandalorian is going to be very interesting because you’re going to start to find out the power of The Child, what The Child really means. You will also start to uncover the origins of the Darksaber that Moff Gideon has and how that plays into previous Star Wars history connected to The Clone Wars and other shows. And you’ll start to get a real dramatic sense of the territory. We’re living in a universe that is just huge and so much to explore. So I think this show is going to start to lay the groundwork for the depth and breadth that’s going to come in Season 3 and Season 4, where you’re really gonna start to get answers.

Well, based on Giancarlo Esposito’s comments to People, it would seem that Mandalorian creator Jon Favreau already has ideas for both the third and fourth seasons of the show. While it’s not incredibly surprising that Disney+ would have two additional seasons planned, it’s comforting to hear that the show’s future is pretty much set.

Esposito’s mention of The Child is also sure to get fans hyped. The fan-favorite character (affectionally known as Baby Yoda) is as mysterious as it is adorable. The Force-wielding infant seems to be the thread that ties the Jedi Order into the series. And the inclusion of Rosario Dawson’s Ahsoka Tano, who did not appear in the recent trailer, could only add to that assumption.

It’ll also be interesting to see how the aforementioned Darksaber plays into the story. As Esposito alluded to, that weapon has been a key part of Star Wars lore for a little now, and we’ve yet to discover how Moff Gideon got his hands on it. Still, the fact that he can wield it says quite a bit about his character already.

What happens in Season 2 is still anyone’s guess at this point, but everything we’ve heard and seen so far points to it being a fun, sprawling adventure across the galaxy. And now, we can take comfort in knowing that the story will be far from over by season’s end.

The Mandalorian Season 2 is set to premiere on Disney+ on October 30.
