Why Welcome To Plathville's Fans Are Questioning How Much Of The Plath Family's Rules Are Legit

Warning! The following contains spoilers for the Season 2 premiere of Welcome To Plathville, called "A Family Divided." Read at your own risk!

Welcome To Plathville is back at TLC for another season, which means so is the largely culturally oblivious Plath family. Barry and Kim Plath pride themselves on having raised their children without sugar, television, video games, and incredibly limited computer time, though something in the premiere already has fans questioning whether or not that's actually the case.

"A Family Divided" featured Micah and Moriah Plath coming back to the home after they "moved out" to experience a taste of the outside world. The younger siblings were still living that Plath life, or at least that's what the family and the premiere mostly led us to believe. Fans first started to question if the family had backpedaled on some values during Micah and Moriah's jam session in his room. Kim entered the room to observe, and as can be seen below, was seated in a gaming chair stationed in front of three PC monitors and some flight simulator controls.

For a family that doesn't allow video gaming, that appears to be a pretty high-priced setup. In fairness, I can understand that something like a flight simulator game with those types of controls may translate to actual experience Isaac Plath could put towards a job. With that being said, kids today play flight simulator games for fun, and not necessarily because they want to become pilots someday.

And while I'm not trying to put Isaac Plath on blast here, there is some other evidence that his computer isn't solely for work purposes. If you take a look at this picture, you'll see a gaming controller hanging out on Isaac's nightstand.

Given this controller, I don't think it's wild to speculate that Welcome To Plathville's Isaac Plath is using that computer for more than flight simulator training. Especially given the quality of that gaming chair, which is typically reserved for those that spend long hours at a computer. What I'm suggesting here is that Isaac's "limited computer time" may not be all that limited after all.

The real question is, did Isaac always have this, or did the Plaths relax a little on their values after Micah and Moriah joined older siblings Hosanna and Ethan in leaving the nest? In the Season 2 premiere of Welcome To Plathville, Kim and Barry did express some regret that their method of parenting had left most of their older children woefully unprepared for life outside the home. Perhaps the loosening of some restrictions, even if the episode didn't openly acknowledge them, is a way of giving their children just a bit more real-world exposure?

We can only wait and see, as Welcome To Plathville airs on TLC Tuesdays at 10 p.m. ET. Continue to stick with CinemaBlend for all the latest happening in the franchise, and for more news in television and movies this fall.
