Game Of Thrones Star Kristofer Hivju's New Viking TV Show Looks Awesome And Wild

Game of Thrones Tormund Giantsabne Kristofer Hivju HBO

Game of Thrones’ Kristofer Hivju survived the show’s jaws of death more than once, and now he is ready to rumble like a Viking. In the trailer above, Hivju and his wife, Gry Molvær Hivju, make the call that every fan of historical dramas can appreciate. They are looking for contestants for their new Viking TV show, which looks like an awesomely wild adventure for the incredibly bold.

I think it is fair to say that only the brave need to sign up for this extraordinary adventure. Kristofer Hivju’s new Viking TV show is going to require the unrelenting tenacity of a Game of Thrones viewer, and perhaps even the historical know-how of a Vikings fan. Plus, the physical and emotional fortitude of a Survivor contestant. If you believe you have all of that in spades, I suggest signing up for it.

While Ultimate Viking would make an on-point companion to History’s Vikings, Kristofer Hivju’s competition series will air on the Smithsonian Channel instead. Vikings history will be the source on which Hivju’s Viking show will also draw. As previously reported, the competition will span five weeks as contestants find their Viking-level physicality and mental strength arduously tested.

The trailer shows off wolves and a climate that looks pretty similar to what Kristofer Hivju’s Tormund experienced north of The Wall on Game of Thrones. In other words, it looks absolutely terrifying. Just like on Game of Thrones, there will not be any helpful canines around to help the contestants as they make their way through the arduous terrain.

With or without Ghost, this looks like a crazy amazing adventure to enjoy in 2021. Kristofer Hivju survived the coronavirus, and now he is ready to take on the great outdoors alongside his wife. Hivju is heading for The Witcher’s second season, and if that is not enough excitement, I do not know what is. Game of Thrones may seem like a cakewalk after this.

I just want to see Vikings' Travis Fimmel and Game of Thrones' Kit Harington up in this piece! Both actors are familiar with the rigors of having to shoot a show in tough conditions. It would be interesting to have Kristofer Hivju team up with Harington on-screen again. Plus, it would be neat for Fimmel to share his insight considering the show’s theme and his on-the-record interest in exploring the great outdoors.

For now, fans have this Viking show to look forward to. Until it arrives on the Smithsonian Channel in 2021, you can watch Kristofer Hivju’s fan-favorite run as Tormund Giantsbane by streaming Game of Thrones on HBO Max. Hivju made his debut in Season 3. As you wait for the next chapter in the franchise thanks to House of the Dragon, check out what is arriving on 2021’s winter/spring schedule.
