No Big Deal, Just Dave Chappelle Making Newlywed Couple's Day By Photobombing Wedding Pictures

If I were a celebrity I’d want to be just like Dave Chappelle, living in the middle of nowhere in Ohio and popping up when least expected, like on SNL this season or, you know, in the middle of some random  photos being taken by a couple after they just got married. That’s right, Dave Chappelle happened to be in Austin, Texas and dropped in on some wedding photos for some newlyweds, who greatly enjoyed the random -- and brief -- celebrity interaction.

Eleanor McLaughlin is the famous bride who was photobombed by Dave Chappelle on the occasion of her wedding day. While it may be a little beyond the pale to jump into a stranger’s wedding photos if you are a normal person, when a celebrity does it, it’s a viral moment. Take a look, courtesy of McLaughlin’s Instagram page.

The wedding went down at the New Line hotel in Austin, Texas. The couple found a spot in view of the hotel restaurant to take some lovely images in all of their finery, and that’s when the big moment happened. The couple and their photographer heard cheering as they hugged for a cute image, which seemed like a nice moment of attention for the bride and groom, but when they looked back, they realized it was because Dave Chappelle had decided to pop over and jump into their photos.

The move by the comedian reportedly buoyed the happy couple’s spirits on their wedding day. Like many couples who still chose to get married in the middle of the pandemic, Eleanor McLaughlin and her partner had to make a lot of major changes to their big day. They ultimately downsized from 150 to only 12 guests and didn’t have the big party they expected. So, getting a special memorable moment with Netflix comedian Dave Chappelle was not only a great story but a great story on a day that wasn’t anything like what they initially anticipated.

Their photographer Anna Szczekutowicz also shared with NBC News that it was quite the talking point during the wedding after the big photobomb happened.

Considering the challenges they faced planning a wedding during the pandemic and downsizing from 150 guests to 12, this moment really lifted everyone’s spirits and made for a memorable day!

In general, though, whether or not Dave Chappelle had popped into the couple’s photographs, it sounds like a pretty magical wedding, even with the changes made for safety. You can see more images from the event on Anna Szczekutowicz’ official Instagram account.

As for Dave Chappelle, this isn’t the first time that he has jumped into some wedding photos. He made another couple’s “day” when he did basically the same thing in 2018. He’s not the only celebrity with a penchant for doing this sort of thing, either. We reported George W. Bush sometimes gets up to similar antics. Kristen Stewart also famously crashed some random person’s wedding a few short years ago. There may be some cons to being a celebrity, but clearly there are some perks as well.
