CBS' CSI Revival Has Added New Cast Members To Join William Petersen And Jorja Fox

cast of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation

CBS has some of the top rated shows on TV, and helping the network along the way was CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and all of its spinoffs. All of the series in the CSI franchise, although they were long-running, are now off the air. A new revival, though, is all but confirmed to happen back on the CBS network. CSI veterans William Peterson and Jorja Fox are finishing up negotiating deals for them to sign on for the limited series in their roles from the original. It looks like there is movement on the revival front as even more TV veterans have been added to the cast list for the project.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, three actors have been newly enlisted for the CSI limited series revival: Mel Rodriguez, Paula Newsome, and Matt Lauria. It’s not yet announced in what capacity these stars are being added to the project, but they should be quality additions. All three actors have strong ties to television, being regulars in more than just a couple of series over their careers.

Mel Rodriguez had a big year in 2020 and was a part of a number of projects, including a large voice acting part in Disney’s Onward. The Last Man on Earth actor has recent ties to CBS with his role in an episode of the The Twilight Zone reboot.

Similarly, Paula Newsome has this same recent affiliation with CBS for her role in a different episode of the updated revival of The Twilight Zone. Newsome has also appeared in other popular CBS series like Criminal Minds and NCIS.

Unlike the other two new names added to the CSI revival project, Matt Lauria did appear in the original series of the CSI franchise, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. He only appeared in a few episodes, but he might actually reprise his role of Agent Matthew Pratt instead of taking on a new part. The Kingdom star works pretty much solely on TV, and while Lauria has been a regular on a number of popular shows, the new revival project on CBS would definitely make his face a more familiar one, and possibly give him a little career nudge forward.

There have been a number of spinoffs made from the OG CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, but this new limited series would be a little different than just another spinoff, as it would take after the original program, and be set in Las Vegas. It will be interesting to see what other stars sign off for the revival and if we are to see any more familiar faces.

Even though the CSI limited series is more than just a rumor, it has not officially been signed off on by the CBS Network. Considering how popular the original drama was, it's likely that CBS is doing everything it can to make sure the revival becomes a reality. We will have to wait and see just how long that might take, but until we know for sure, you can catch your favorite past cast members on CBS All Access.
