Nolan Gould in Modern Family

If quarantine during a pandemic is good for one thing, it would be for getting in shape, and some people are doing just that. One Modern Family alum has gone completely buff, and his new buff look is almost unrecognizable from when he first started on the ABC comedy over 10 years ago. Nolan Gould has been working out!

Nolan Gould, who played Luke Dunphy in Modern Family for the show’s 11-season run, posted a photo from a new photoshoot looking quite buff, with the caption complete with a shocked emoji. Take a look:

In an interview with People, Nolan Gould shared that socially-distanced workouts have given him a reason to get up and stay motivated while being unemployed, helping him stay positive and healthy during a time like this. Gould explained:

I spent six months basically on vacation. But I feel like now it's time to kind of make a decision on where I want to go with my career, and one of the ways you can do that is by changing my look and my mindset. . . . I've been working out an hour and a half everyday with my friend Michael who is a personal trainer. We have a really cool socially-distant setup that has allowed me to get fit while also being safe. It's been nice. Especially being unemployed in quarantine, having a reason to get up and stay motivated. It's been something that's been very healthy and positive for me in quarantine. It's really changed my outlook.

Modern Family ran on ABC from September 2009 for eleven seasons before completing its run in April 2020. The series followed the lives of three diverse families in suburban LA. Nolan Gould portrayed Luke Dunphy, the youngest sibling in the Dunphy family. The show ended with a one-hour finale that eventually split up the characters after an emotional goodbye, ending a journey that lasted over a decade.

Modern Family recently found two new homes nearly a year after the finale under a deal that gives Disney and NBCUniversal the rights to stream the series, available on both Peacock and Hulu. The situation is unique, with Disney's Hulu and NBCUniversal's Peacock as rival streaming services. The deal also marks the first time that the entire library of the series will be available on both a subscription and an advertiser-backed service. Modern Family is streaming now on Disney’s Hulu and NBCUniversal’s Peacock.
