Gina Carano as Cara Dune on The Mandalorian (2021)

Disney+’s The Mandalorian has been an entertainment juggernaut, having achieved acclaim since premiering in 2019, and the show is currently looking towards its third season. However, the Star Wars show recently experienced a bit of drama behind the scenes after Cara Dune actress Gina Carano was fired from the show after posting an “abhorrent” message on social media. Carano has given some details on her departure from Disney and Lucasfilm but, in a new interview, she’s set to discuss the situation in depth. And during the talk, she’ll claim that Disney both “bullied” and “head-hunted” her.

Gina Carano is set to give an interview with The Daily Wire’s Ben Shapiro, in which she’ll talk about being fired from Disney and Lucasfilm. In a preview, obtained exclusively by Deadline, Carano alleges that she was “bullied” by the entertainment company and claims she isn’t the only one:

I’ve been through so much, and I’ve seen so much now, clearly, of the bullying that’s been taking place, and I saw it before. I’m not the only one that’s ever been bullied by this company, and I know that so deeply.

Gina Carano was let go by Disney after she posted a message on Instagram that appeared to compare the current political climate to the Holocaust, which led to massive backlash online. This wasn’t the first controversy brought about by the actress’ polarizing social media presence. Last year, Carano came under fire when she made jokes about people’s use of pronouns on their social media accounts. She later apologized in a formal statement. She also stirred up controversy after sharing social media posts that expressed anti-mask sentiments regarding the ongoing pandemic and sharing posts that spread conspiracy theories about voter fraud in the 2020 U.S. presidential election.

As the interview clip goes on, Carano states that she was beginning to see the writing on the wall before being fired from The Mandalorian. She says this was especially clear during a situation that involved a Lucasfilm artist:

You know how boxers head-hunt sometimes and forget to go for the body? I feel like Disney or Lucasfilm or whoever it is, just certain people at that company…I feel like I’ve been being head-hunted... and you can feel it. Just a couple of weeks ago, Lucasfilm asked an artist that they employ to erase my character and put a different character in place, and he proudly announces this on Twitter, and erases my character and puts another character in place. All the fans of Cara Dune were just outraged. They were like ‘Why didn’t you add the character? Why did you have to take off the character? Is there something wrong? Is Gina getting fired?’

This interview won’t be the last of Gina Carano’s collaborations with The Daily Wire. She’s currently set to develop, produce and star in an upcoming movie for the conservative outlet.

Gina Carano’s full interview with The Ben Shapiro Show will be released on Sunday, February 21.
