The Flash: Why Caitlin's Big Change Is Bad News For Killer Frost

Caitlin Snow The Flash The CW

Warning! The following contains spoilers for The Flash episode "Fear Me." Read at your own risk!

The Flash snuck in a shocking change with Caitlin Snow in its previous episode, and the latest episode finally explained why she and Killer Frost are now separate people, sort of. Essentially, Frost being struck with Mirror Monarch's gun had a profound effect on the duo, and now the two are theoretically free to live their lives independent of each other.

It was a cool possibility for Killer Frost, though something she may not enjoy in the near future. That's thanks in large part to the arrival of Kristen Kramer, a new prosecutor who arrived in Central City and told Joe what's what in his precinct. After a bit of mystery on her true intentions, Kramer finally revealed she was sent by the government to bring a vigilante the city had turned a blind eye to, to justice: Killer Frost.

Yes, while Killer Frost has gained the trust of Joe, Team Flash, and Central City since her villainous streak way back when, she's still a wanted fugitive. That said, The Flash didn't really specify who wanted her in chains beyond "the government" and why Kramer was tasked with doing it. I mean, Frost has collaborated with A.R.G.U.S. in the past, so I guess I assumed the days of her being labeled a criminal were over.

And yet, when Psych took hold on Killer Frost's mind with his fear power, she recalled she was reminded of her crimes. Clearly, there's a part of her that still believes she's a criminal, which could play into this upcoming storyline that felt disconnected from all the stuff happening with the Speed Force.

Unfortunately, it's hard to say whether Kristen Kramer will be a friend or foe to Team Flash, as The Flash took some liberties with its iteration of the character. The Kristen Kramer of the comics worked alongside Barry Allen in the crime lab, and this prosecutor just arrived from Gotham with a mostly redacted military past. For now, Kramer isn't directly on the path of Killer Frost, as Joe and Iris seemed committed to run interference and keep her off their friend's back.

I'm definitely suspicious of the character already, especially the idea that she was sent by the government to bring Killer Frost in. Killer Frost has been working as a hero for a while, and again, wouldn't A.R.G.U.S. handle something like this? Like, Kramer is aware of what Frost can do, so what makes her so confident she will succeed in bringing her in?

The answer may arrive in the coming weeks, as The Flash airs on The CW Tuesdays at 8:00 p.m. ET. Be sure to stick with CinemaBlend in the meantime, as we continually unravel some of the crazy curveballs Season 7 has thrown at fans so far.
