One of the most overlooked parts of superhero movies that makes them super-unrealistic is how often characters perform great feats of strength and then don’t have any body aches to show for it. It would seem The Falcon and the Winter Soldier star Sebastian Stan doesn't have such real-life aversions to injuries and bodily wear-and-tear as his character Bucky Barnes. A pretty accident-prone individual, Stan recently revealed some of the injuries he suffered while working on the Marvel and Disney+ series, and they don’t sound very fun at all.

On the very first day of filming The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, Sebastian Stan apparently hurt his ankle pretty bad while jumping from a dock to a boat. The first day! Here’s what Stan told Variety about hurting himself while filming a scene for Episode 5:

I just landed and twisted my ankle so badly that I thought it was broken. Like I actually couldn’t walk on it.

That’s honestly a pretty serious injury to be had for the first day of filming, or the first day of doing anything for that matter. While the ankle-twist didn't appear to have had any lasting damage for Sebastian Stan, to have the star of an action series unable to walk is sure to slow down production in some capacity. Where there is a will, there is a way, though, and it sounds like that’s not the only injury the Falcon and Winter Soldier production had to work around regarding Stan's well-being.

The star of the upcoming Hulu series Pam & Tommy, Sebastian Stan explained that he also broke his pinky toe while the MCU series was still filming. That injury required Stan to get a little help from others between takes. Here it is in his own words:

In between the takes when we had to do the set-ups, I would run upstairs and two people would help me out of this boot and I would just take my foot and put it in a bucket of ice.

For someone whose popularity exploded for playing a character with a partially metal and pretty much indestructible body, Sebastian Stan seems to be...pretty breakable. While he may be different from the hero he portrays in the MCU in that way - he probably doesn't sleep on his floor, either - it seems like the dedication and willpower to fight through the pain and get the job done is a trait that the two figures do indeed share.

While Season 1 of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier has concluded on Disney+, there are plenty of upcoming Sebastian Stan movies and TV shows for anyone already missing his arrival every Friday. If you’re solely a fan when Stan and Anthony Mackie are together, there still may be some hope for a Season 2 of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, even if it goes by another name - only time will tell!
