The 64th Golden Globe Awards aired Monday night. When an awards ceremony doesn’t have a host, it relies on the presenters and recipients to provide the entertainment for the viewers. Unfortunately, this year’s Golden Globes lacked in both areas for the most part. There were, however, a few worth mentioning moments at the event.

Best Female Speech goes to Meryl Streep. Granted, she’s had enough practice accepting awards but even so, its still great to see someone who truly deserves the award get up there and pay respect to the industry as well as to the other female nominees. Her little “That’s All” line at the end was a nice touch.

Best Male Speeches go to Hugh Laurie and Sacha Baron Cohen. Laurie gets it for being funny while chatting his way through the speech. And Cohen gets it for talking about the “anus and testicles” of his costar.

Best “Oh My God I Cant Believe I Won” speech goes to America Ferrera. When she accepted her award for ‘Ugly Betty,’ she had tears in her eyes. A quick pan of the audience showed she was not alone. Her speech was heartfelt without being sloppy which is pretty rare for these kinds of speeches.
