Celebrity Circus is a celebreality series that centers on a bunch of celebrities competing against each other by performing “death-defying stunts” in front of a live studio audience. Viewers will vote to decide which stars should stay and like every other similar competition series, whoever gets the fewest votes is eliminated each week. The contestants will perform circus-themed acts including walking the high wire, the Flying Trapeze, Chinese Poles, Aerial Silks, and the Wheel of Death.

Set to star in the show are Antonio Sabato Jr., Blu Cantrell, Christopher Knight, Janet Evans, Wee Man, Rachel Hunter and Stacey Dash. Joey Fatone is the host.

I remember this series back when it was called Circus of the Stars. As a kid, I thought it was great seeing TV and movie stars doing circus stunts. As an adult, not so much. Chris Knight was Peter Brady, right? Stacey Dash was in Clueless and I recognize Wee Man from Jackass but other than that, I barely recognize the other celebrities. The circus aspect of the series is fun (who doesn’t like the circus?) and it should be interesting seeing the contestants learning how to do some of the acts but I’m thinking this series probably won’t hold my attention for more than an episode or two at most. I do get why NBC’s airing this though. With the monstrous popularity of Dancing with the Stars, it’s clear that there’s definitely an audience for shows like these, involving celebrities stepping out of their field and risking injury (and embarrassment) in the hopes of winning over the crowd.
