The CW To Remake Melrose Place

Well, with the return of 90210, I suppose it was only a matter of time before there was some buzz about a possible remake of the Beverly Hills, 90210 spinoff, Melrose Place. From the looks of things, there’s a good chance that the MP remake might actually happen.

Entertainment Weekly’s Ausiello reported the news, stating, “A spokesperson for The CW confirms what has been buzzed about for months: The network is developing an update of Melrose Place. Details remain sketchy, but it's believed Melrose 2.0 would launch next fall.”

It’s hard to remember the original Melrose Place as a spinoff of 90210. Jake (Grant Show) was in the original 90210 for all of about two seconds before his relationship with Kelly (way too young for your Jake!) Taylor ended. It’ll be interesting to see if they try to spin the MP remake off from the new 90210 in an effort to share at least some of the audience. And speaking of which, since we’re dealing with The CW, I’m wondering if the target audience will be their usual batch of tweens and teens or if they’ll try to aim for an older crowd like the original series.
