TBS In Talks To Pick Up My Name Is Earl

I don’t want to get the few remaining My Name Is Earl fans’ hopes up, but preliminary talks to bring the series back are currently underway. For awhile it was thought that Earl could move to Fox (20th Century Fox produces the show, and with CBS produced Medium jumping to the big eyeball there’s some precedent for this) or to ABC, which proved with Scrubs they are willing to take on the cancelled leavings of other networks.

TBS is looking to add My Name Is Earl to its comedy lineup. The show would have to be produced on a much lower budget, and there’s no guarantee that stars Jason Lee and Ethan Suplee would be willing to take a pay cut. Not to mention whether TBS could afford to take on the show at all. TBS has been doing well with their comedy blocks, but a network series with a large budget would be very difficult to revamp for the cable crowd.

Don’t hold out too much hope at this point, but there is a chance you’ll be seeing new episodes of Earl in the future.
