CBS Wins The Week

Is anybody else as tired as me of hearing about the key 18-49 demographic? I’m still in the middle of that group but it’s almost obnoxious how much the networks cater to it. Hell, my dad is in his 50s, has a hell of a lot more money than I do, and he’s willing to buy anything. He bought the damn As Seen On TV Omelette maker for Christ’s sake.

Why am I rambling on about this? The weekly ratings are out and it seems that most news sources consider that demographic more important than overall ratings.

For the week, CBS led with an average of 12.4 million viewers with Fox coming in second with 9.9 million. NBC brought in a 9.3 million average with ABC embarrassingly bringing up the rear at 8.1 million. Don’t tell FOX they lost though. They brought in 4.2 rating amongst the 18-49 demographic with CBS finishing with 3.6, NBC 3.1, and ABC 3.1 as well.

Since I don’t get advertising dollars, I don’t care about a silly demographic. Deal or No Deal is really becoming popular with 3 shows in the top 20. Don’t be surprised when NBC makes the same mistake that ABC did with “Millionaire” a few years ago. No doubt they’ll oversaturate the market soon and Howie Mandel will be back slumming at comedy clubs. Here’s the top 20 rated shows for last week overall:
