Casey Wilson And Ken Marino Deliver Laughs And Disastrous Proposals In NBC's Marry Me Trailer

"Not gonna sugarcoat it, that was bad!"

Fortunately, the same can't be said for the trailer for NBC's Marry Me, one of the new comedies slated to join NBC's 2014-2015 lineup this fall. Admittedly, Marry Me had us at Ken Marino and Casey Wilson, with Happy Endings' David Caspe and The Goldbergs director Seth Gordon's involvement sealing the deal. But the trailer's demonstrated celebration of disastrous proposals also does well to tease what will hopefully be a successful comedy for NBC. The network could use a few of those.

Here's the official description for Marry Me, which stars Casey Wilson, Ken Marino, Sarah Wright, John Gemberling, Tymberlee Hill and Tim Meadows.

Six years ago, Annie (Casey Wilson, “Happy Endings”) and Jake (Ken Marino, “Eastbound & Down”) bonded over their mutual love of nachos and they’ve been inseparable ever since. Now, after returning from a romantic two-week island vacation, Jake’s all set to pop the question. Before he can ask, though, Annie lets loose on Jake for his inability to commit. She was expecting him to “put a ring on it” in paradise and now Jake’s perfect proposal is ruined. Not wanting to spend the next 60 years talking about that mess of a proposal, Jake and Annie decide to hold off on the engagement until they can do it right. Yet if history tells us anything, it’s when we really want things to go right that they all tend to go wrong. The only thing we know for sure is these two are destined to be together whether they can get it together or not.

The trailer also shows us Leslie David Baker, who played Stanley in The Office, but unfortunately, he's not listed among the cast, and given what we do see of him in the trailer -- presumably on the verge of firing Ken Marino's character -- this may just be a guest spot for him.

Here's a look at Casey Wilson's pre-proposal rant...

NBC has Marry Me set to air on Tuesday night after The Voice starting this Fall. Tuesday nights are proving to be particularly competitive for comedies on network TV. Assuming that's the case next Fall, Marry Me could be up against ABC's The Goldbergs and something on Fox's Tuesday night comedy block (New Girl, The Mindy Project, etc).
