The Clicker Is Swallowed By A Techno Shark

My apologies on a short column this week. By the time you read this, I’ll be flying back from a business trip. Let me tell you, boy will my arms be tired! Yeah, I steal all my best jokes from Fozzie Bear. Give me a break, I’m on a schedule.

This week I want to let you know about another recent addition to our site. The Audio Blend hosted by Rafe Telsch has been a top notch movie podcast for about a year now. Recently, Rafe and his co-star, Margaret Williams, have so graciously invited CB Graphical Guru Matt Sinopoli and me to join them for a television roundtable discussion. Frankly, it isn’t too bad. When you have Rafe and Margaret running the show so well, even two bums like “the Matts” can sound halfway competent. With sweeps in full effect again in May, we will focus on what to expect during the month of May. You can expect to hear us discuss the finale episodes for plenty of shows and we’re even planning a special podcast totally focused on the "LOST" season finale. Unlike J.J. Abrams, we hope to actually answer some questions in our broadcast.

If you always fantasized on how many times I say “um” in basic conversation, Check here around Wednesday or Thursday for the first of several television-themed podcasts in the month of May.

I’ll be back next week with a column that actually seems like I put some time and effort into it. Then again if you’ve read any of my previous columns, I think you already know that won't really happen.

What to Watch (4/30-5/6)

Cold Case (CBS) 8:00 pm

I recommend this show with a big * next to it. The show itself is good. I like the music and I usually like the stories. My main problem is the entire freaking premise of it. The show is about cases from long ago that haven’t been solved. Well, the people who end up being the killers are always very close to the case. Are you telling me the old cops wouldn’t have enough common sense as to interview the husband about his wife’s murder? It’s like that every week. These cold case detectives have an almost 100% rate on solving cases. Ridiculous. Anyways, this week the gang will solve the 1945 death of a woman report who was thrown in front of a train.

Grey’s Anatomy (ABC) 10:00 pm

Blues for Sister Someone-I tried not to like this show. It just seemed too cheesy in its premise. Yet, I don’t hate it. I gotta give Patrick Dempsey some props for overcoming the nerdy typecasting he got in movies like Can’t Buy Me Love. This week, Izzie questions George about his personal life while Addison and Alex go head-to-head about a case. Who cares.. just watch it.

How I Met Your Mother (CBS) 8:30 pm

Best Prom Ever- Marshall and Lily’s wedding is approaching and it’s time to book the hall. After you book the hall, you gotta get a band. Before they hire a band, they want to hear the band first and the only place they can do that is at a prom. Marshall probably has better sense but Lily, we know, is going to that prom!

24 (FOX) 9:00 pm

Day 5: 2:00-3:00 am- Just when Robocop was captured, we see a new villain. Doctor Romano (The one who had a run-in with a helicopter) heads some faction that is playing President Logan like a fiddle. This makes it even more confusing. What the heck is the President doing? Jesus, some of this stuff is inane but damn Jack Bauer is awesome. We don’t have many episodes left. Jack gets to sleep in June!

Veronica Mars (UPN) 9:00 pm

Happy Go Lucky- Tuesdays are quickly becoming as bad as Saturdays in regards to quality. Can somebody help me out here. I find myself slumming over at UPN because Matt Sinopoli keeps whining that Veronica Mars is good. I’m not sure if I should trust him. He watches “Bones”. Well, I have no clue what this show is about but this week Aaron Echolls is on trial for murder and Veronica and her buddies testify against him. Seriously, I have no idea what this show is about. I’ll give it a shot though. I’ll be back watching PBS if this sucks.

Amazing Race 9 (CBS) 8:00 pm

Man, They Should Have Used Their Fake Names-Team Hippy Survives another week. I think we’re down to two or three episodes left and we lost the old people last week. Oh well, how they made it this far is beyond me. They were quite incompetent. The Hippies, The Fratboys, MoJo, and Whiny Black Couple are still in contention for the million dollars. Go hippies!

LOST (ABC) 8:00 pm (ABC)

Two for the Road- We get a new episode again, phew! The title makes me think the rumors of two deaths MIGHT be true. Or, it could be that we find Hurley’s secret liquor stash. Kate and Jack bring Michael back to camp and Michael fills them in on the action of the Others. Henry Gale is interrogated by Ana Lucia again while Hurley prepares to put the moves on Libby. Flashbacks and an interrogation for Ana Lucia makes me have ominous thoughts.

Survivor (CBS) 8:00pm

Bamboozled- The remaining castaways make new alliances while two old friends have a disagreement that sheds new life on one of them. The finale isn’t far off so I’m somewhat happy that this blasé version is about to to be over.

My Name Is Earl (NBC) 9:00pm

BB- Earl has to repay an old flame for shooting her with a BB Gun. That’s funny. I don’t care who you are.

School of Rock (FOX) 8:00 pm

Finally, a decent movie on Friday night! This movie is an underrated story of a loser rocker who pretends to be a substitute teacher in hopes of getting some quick cash. Along the way he plots a way to win a battle of the bands. Might I add that the song in the finale is pretty damn good original song for kids in a movie.

Seabiscuit (ABC) 7:00 pm

My movie recommendations have nothing to do with the fact that I am going out of town tomorrow and I don’t have time to search for a bunch of shows. Saturdays suck anyways so catch the story of Seabiscuit and his jockey played by Tobey Maguire. It’s a pretty good story that is almost too good to be true. Jeff Bridges and Chris Cooper also star.
