Saturday Night Live has featured some heavy hitters over the past several weeks, including the Academy Award nominee Jennifer Lawrence and successful The Voice judge Adam Levine (alright, so maybe one is more of a heavy hitter than the other). Now, the long-running sketch comedy show has signed on Django Unchained actor Christoph Waltz to host the episode airing a week before the Oscars.

NBC made the announcement on Wednesday, noting that Waltz will be joined by musical guests The Alabama Shakes—both of whom are making their SNL debut. Between the actor and the band, the two have accrued a number of awards, which is sort of fitting for an episode sets to air during Awards season. Waltz won a SAG, Oscar and Golden Globe for his supporting role in Inglorious Basterds and similarly has won a Golden Globe and been nominated for an Oscar for Django Unchained. Likewise, The Alabama Shakes have earned three Grammy nods for their 2013 album Boys & Girls.

All of those awards don’t say much about how the actor and the band will do on the show, but musical guests are usually just fine on the series. Additionally Waltz, while not an outright comedian, has shown great inflection skills and enough goofy promise onscreen that his appearance could be a treat, as long as the man is game to try almost anything. Waltz and The Alambama Shakes are set to appear during SNL’s February 16 episode.

SNL will return to the schedule on February 9, with Justin Bieber officially taking on both hosting and musical duties during the episode of the NBC series.
